Keith Herbert Broome Keith Herbert Broome of Bristol went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2003, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and had worked fro 18 and a half years at the Highlands Juvenile Detention Center before his retirement. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and also attended Fellowship Chapel. He was preceded in death by his father, James Daniel Broome. Weatherly BIG STONE GAP, Va. -- Carrie L. Weatherly, 95, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Heritage Hall Healthcare of Big Stone Gap. Mrs. Weatherly was born in Lee County, Va., but lived in Big Stone Gap for 65 years. She was a graduate of Radford College and had taught in the area for 35 years. After retiring from teaching, she assisted her husband in Lynn's Bakery in Big Stone Gap. Mrs. Weatherly was also involved in many organizations in the area. She was chaplain of the Boone Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, president of the Big Stone Gap Chapter 1314 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Worthy Matron of the Appalachia Chapter 26 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and current member of the Big Stone Gap Chapter 157 of the O.E.S. She served as Grand Officer, O.E.S. of the Grand Chapter of Virginia for three years. She was a charter member of the Dogwood Garden Club, life member of the United Methodist Women of Trinity United Methodist Church, Democratic Woman of the Year 1990 and pink lady volunteer for Wellmont-Lonesome Pine Hospital. She also worked as a tour guide for the John Fox Jr. home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lynn Weatherly. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Patty Lynn and Jim Cooper; grandsons and wives, Doug and Arlana Cooper, Stephe and Gayla Cooper; and three great-grandchildren, Stephe Jr., Dustin and Amanda Cooper; sister-in-law, Geraldine Weatherly; and several wonderful nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Mrs. Whiteman was born June 2, 1911, in Blountville, and was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. She was a daughter of the late Loften and Ollie (Almaroad) Cross. In earlier years, she served as a Sunday School teacher for several area churches and was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church at her death. She was very active member of the Kingsport Senior Citizens prior to her declining health. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, a cherished sister, a loving grandmother and an ever-faithful Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Whiteman, a brother, George Cross; and a son, Jack Whiteman. Mrs. Whiteman is survived by her daughter, Louise Depew of Blountville; a son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Barbara Whiteman of Kingsport; three half- brothers, Jess, Jimmy and Powell Cross; eight grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Monday in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Raymond Amos officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Garden of Devotions of the East Lawn Memorial Park. Ruth R. Wolfram Funeral services for Ruth Sturgill Rector Wolfram will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Riverside Baptist Church, Chilhowie, with Rev. C. Richard "Dick" Campbell Sr., Rev. Paul C. Ross, Rev. Brooke Ballard and Rev. Campbell Kiser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Fenner, Robbie Fenner, Dennis Dutton, John Dutton, Scott Mullins, Henry Gardner, Richard Campbell Jr., Adam Roderer and Derek Dutton.
