Ronald Dean Austin COUNCIL, Va. -- Mr. Ronald Dean "Rudy" Austin, 52, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2003, in Council. Born Oct. 20, 1950, in Buchanan County, Va., he was a son of the late Chrissy Vilinie Austin Hess. A lifelong resident of the Council area, he was a disabled coal miner and of the Baptist faith. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Austin; and one sister, Emma Gay Austin. Survivors include his wife, Christine Austin of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Julia and William Ball of Bluefield, Va.; four sons, Ronald Anthony Austin of Council and Joseph Dean Austin, Randy Dean Austin and Jason Andrew Austin, all of the home; three sisters, Norma Jean Neely, Tenna Harris and Brenda Joyce Hess, all of Davenport, Va.; one brother, Danny Wayne Austin of Council; and two grandchildren, Tyler Ball and Ethan Ball also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Troy Harris and Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Main Street, Abingdon is serving the family of Mr. Robert P. Connett. Carl Fleming CLINTWOOD, Va. -- Carl Fleming, age 81, died at Bon Secour St. Mary's Hospital on Monday, June 2, 2003. A lifelong resident of Dickenson County, he owned and operated Carl Fleming TV Sales and Service for 38 years. He was a member and former deacon of Clintwood Baptist Church, a member of the Chase Lodge 21, IOOF, and veteran of World War II, U.S. Navy. His parents, Russell and Wanda Vanover Fleming; a daughter, Rebecca Sue; brother, Galen; and four grandchildren preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lillian Hughes Fleming, Clintwood; son, Doug Fleming, Clintwood; a daughter, Rita Robinson; five grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. Hamilton BRISTOL, Va. -- Harold Webster "Webb" Hamilton, age 71, of 2401 Bradley Street, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2003, at the VA Medical Center. He was the son of the late W. B. "Bill" and Eula Bellamy Hamilton and was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area. He was the former owner and operator of Union Shoe Shop for more than 50 years. He was a member of Hunt Memorial United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a former Pony and Colt League baseball coach for 17 years. Survivors include: wife of 54 years, Peggy Sapp Hamilton; sons: Jeff Hamilton and wife Vicky of Bristol Tennessee; and Jerry Hamilton and wife Myra of Cumming, Ga.; special granddaughters, Elizabeth Hamilton, Holly Hamilton and Heather Hamilton; sister, Faye Herron of Bristol Virginia; brother, Bruce Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews. James Russell Taylor BRISTOL, Va. -- James Russell "Snake" Taylor, 86, of 14284 Old Jonesborough Road, passed away Monday, June 2, 2003, at his residence. Mr. Taylor was born on Aug. 22, 1916, in Washington County, Va., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom and Bessie Taylor. He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area, a carpenter, and had worked with Universal Furniture Company for 16 years. He was of the Baptist faith and loved turkey hunting. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Lee Taylor; and one brother, Carl Taylor. Survivors include two sons: Bobby R. Taylor and wife Pamela of the home; and Harold D. Taylor and wife Jane of Bristol Virginia; a loving daughter-in-law, Penny, who cared for him during his sickness; three grandsons, Dustin Taylor, Austin Taylor and Chad Taylor; a very special "foster" granddaughter, Gretchen Estevez; brother, Bee Taylor of Houston; nephew, Tommy Taylor of Houston; and a very special nurse and friend, Donna Kestner. Mrs. Wagner was born on March 28, 1917, in Sullivan County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Susie Collins. she had lived all her life in the Bristol area and was a seamstress. She was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church and was attending Glade Community First Church of God. Mrs. Wagner had worked a total of 57 years with Big Jack, LC King and Bristol Jeans. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Bristol Tennessee Moose Lodge and with Eastern Star. Mrs. Wagner was preceded in death by her husband, Toy E. Wagner; one daughter, Mary Juanita Carrier; one sister and brother-in-law, Mamie Cody and husband Freddie; and a special friend, Robert Moore. Mrs. Wagner is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Little and husband, Rev. EC of Chilhowie; one sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Erma Davis and husband Robert of Landsdale, Pa.; one granddaughter, Karla Campbell and husband, Rev.
