She was a member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Bishop loved to hunt and fish. Fred DeVault Brumit GRAY, Tenn. -- Fred DeVault Brumit, age 73, 210 Boone Station Rd., died Friday, June 6, 2003, in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Washington County, Mr. Brumit was the son of the late Roy L. and Maurine Sylvester Brumit. He was a former school teacher but had farmed for most of his life in the Boones Creek area. Mr. Brumit was active in the farming community, where he served as a member and former board member of the Washington County Farm Bureau from 1964-1997. In 1997 he was made an honorary member by the Farm Bureau. He also served as representative of the Young Farmer's and Rancher's Association, board member of the Washington County Farmer's Co-op, board member of the Co-op Tobacco Warehouse, member of the Boones Creek Historical Association and also a member of the Tennessee Cattleman Association. Mr. Brumit was an active member of the Boone Trail Baptist Church. Survivors include one niece, Sandy Dunn, Johnson City; four nephews: Ed Brumit, France; Mike Brumit, Jeffersonville, Ind.; Byron Brumit, Jeffersonville, Ind; and Sam Brumit, Gray; sister-in-law, Mary Brumit, Johnson City; and several cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Grizzel, 87, took her flight to heaven Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Wellmont Hospice House. She was born in Scott County, Va., on Sept. 21, 1915, and was the daughter of the late W.A.J. Williams and Julie Hammonds Williams. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Grizzel was a member of Walnut Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, mamaw, and friend. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and reading her Bible. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Grizzel in 1961; sons, Jack, Jimmie and Darryl Grizzel; seven sisters; and four brothers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roosevelt Breeding and Donald Breeding; and one sister, Jeanette Kosker. Wallace, 78, of Route 1, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2003, in the Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born April 5, 1925, in Reeds Valley, Cleveland, he was a son of the late Howard and Lucy Couch Wallace of Cleveland. A lifelong resident of Reeds Valley, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a 1944 graduate of Cleveland High School. Dan was a lifelong farmer in Russell County and had served as a member on the A.S.C. committee for several years. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Skagit as a seaman first class during World War II. He loved to fish and talk with his many, many friends. He was a member of the Cleveland Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William H. Wallace; three sisters-in-law, Fannie Ellen Wallace, Lillian Brooks Robertson and Juanita Brooks Vaught; two brothers-in-law, Robert Vaught and Lloyd R. Smith; and two nieces, Susan Smith Sweeney and Anne Vaught Kiraly.
