Boardwine LEBANON -- John Coy Boardwine, 82, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in the Russell County Medical Center. Born Feb. 16, 1921, in Washington County, a son of the late Anthony and Georgia Tuggle Boardwine, he was a retired employee of Olin Chemical in Saltville. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and attended Faith Tabernacle Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Roger Lee Boardwine and Ricky Boardwine; a sister, Lucy Boardwine; seven brothers, Clyde, Noah, George, Charlie, Clarence, Vince, and Lee Boardwine. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Boardwine; a son, Eddie Dean Boardwine and wife Ann, Saltville; a stepson, Frank Hurd and wife Eyvonne, Lebanon; stepdaughter, Tammy Long, Lebanon; a granddaughter, Tammy Rolen, Abingdon; two step-granddaughters: Jodie Dowdy, Birmingham, Ala.; and Christenia Salyer, Nicklesville; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Salyer, Nicklesville; a sister, Delephine Colley, Chilhowie; four brothers, Paul Boardwine, Jim Boardwine and Walt Boardwine, all of Corn Valley, and Anthony Boardwine, Rosedale. Campbell BRISTOL, Tenn. -- William Denver Campbell, age 75, of 120 Sheri Drive, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2003 at his residence. Mr. Campbell was born on Jan. 31, 1928, in Sullivan County, Tenn., to the late Gentry and Mary Davis Campbell. He had lived all his life in the Bristol area, was retired from Flavorich Dairy and from the Raytheon Corporation. Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. Mr. Campbell is survived by: his wife of 54 years, Rosie M. Clifford Farmer Sr. GRUNDY -- Clifford Farmer Sr., 64 years of age, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol Tennessee. Born in Buchanan County April 6, 1939, he was the son of the late Lundy Farmer and Maxie Jane Looney Farmer. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a disabled coal miner and a member of the Grundy Church of Christ. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters; one son; one sister; and five brothers. He is survived by four sons, Johnny Ray Farmer, Eugene Craig Farmer, Clifford Farmer Jr. and Mark Anthony Farmer, all of Grundy, two sisters: Margaret Hunt of Grape Vine, Ky.; and Caroline Fields of Pikeville, Ky.; one brother, David Farmer of Grundy. Griffith LEXINGTON, N.C. -- Mrs. Catherine Jones Griffith, age 50, formerly of Richlands, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Richlands and was the daughter of Lora Mae Ritchie Jones of Richlands and the late Ewing Jones. She had made her home in the Richlands area most of her life having moved to the Lexington area seven years ago. She was a bank teller for the Lexington State Bank and a former loan officer for Dominion/First Union Bank in Richlands. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Winston Salem, N.C., and a member of the Village Garden Club of Welcome, N.C. She was a Richlands High School Class of 1972 graduate and a graduate of SVCC Class of 1978. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Benny, Dennis, and Larry Jones. George Ely Walker MARION, Va. -- Dr. George Ely Walker, age 74, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at his home. He graduated from University of Virginia in 1957 and interned at Norfolk General Hospital from 1957 to 1958. He came to Marion in 1960, joining Dr. Jim Patterson and forming Family Physicians of Marion. He actively practiced medicine there until 1998. He was boarded in American Board of Family Practice in 1972. Dr. Walker still enjoyed practicing as the federal aviation examiner for this area. He was the director of Francis Marion Manor and was a member of several medical societies including American Academy of Family Physicians and Southwestern Virginia Medical Society. He was also an avid sailor and flier. Dr. Walker is survived by his wife, Pam Prince Walker of Marion; two daughters: Laurie Prince Walker of Marion; and Jill Royce Seamster and husband, Raymond Douglas of Stafford, Va.; one son, Dr. Terry Hill Walker of Clemson, S.C.; one brother, Richard Walker of Washington, D.C.; stepmother, Sara Walker of Palm Beach Shores, Fla.; close cousins, Anne and Lee Hunt of Alexandria, Va.; and three step-grandchildren.
