Frederick K. Godsey BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Frederick K. Godsey, age 74, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2003, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mr. Godsey was a native and lifelong resident of the Bristol area. He was the son of the late Elbert and Jewel Godsey. He was a member of the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, where he served during the Korean conflict. He was born in New River, Tenn., lived in the Hampton area for 12 years and had been a resident of Castlewood for the past 12 years. He was the son of the late Homer and Gertrude Gunther Jones Sr. Homer was a veteran and served 27 years in the U.S. Air Force. He spent 16 years in Europe and retired from Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Va., in 1979. Homer was a Christian and loved being with his family. He was a humble and hard-working man with a quite and gentle spirit. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvette Anstett Jones. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and now beloved wife, Billie Jean Jones. He was a loving father to his two daughters, Joelle Nalls and Leslie Patsell of Hampton Roads, Va.; his one son, Pascal Jones of Nicewood, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Joetta Webb of Bluff City; two stepsons, Johnny Owens of Castlewood and Vance Owens of Covington, Va.; three sisters, Joyce Switz of Aliso Viego, Calif., Jackie Vire of Indianapolis and Barbara Billington of Indianapolis; and one brother, James R. Jones. Born July 17, 1923, in Belfast, a son of the late Floyd Robert and Maggie Robins Nipper, he had lived in Belfast all of his life. For the past six years he had lived with his sister, Betty Sword. He was a retired farmer, lover of the soil he tended and horses. He had a multitude of friends and family who loved him very much. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Warren Nipper, Archie Lee Nipper and John Harold Nipper. Mr. Tolley was born on July 31, 1932, in Marion, N.C., a son to the late Henry and Beatrice Hopkins Tolley. Mr. Tolley had lived all his life in the Bristol area, was a contractor and a member of the Fellowship Chapel. Mr. Tolley was a veteran having served with the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War, as a Fighter Pilot. Mr. Tolley was also a member of the Patton Crosswhite VFW Post 6975.
