In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Carmody. He was a World War II U. S. Army Veteran, a Purple Heart recipient and a member of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post 9640 Honor Guard of Richlands and the Disabled American Veterans Tazewell County Chapter 31. He was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church, Richlands Masonic Lodge 318 A.F. & A.M., and the Kazim Temple of Roanoke. He was a graduate of Bristol Tennessee High School and attended East Tennessee State University. He served in the Honor Guard of the 35th Infantry of the U.S. Army in Hawaii. O'Neal, age 76, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. Audrey was born on Sunday, Aug. 1, 1926, in Castlewood, to Clarence O. and Daisy B. (Mitchell) Jessee. She married George W. O'Neal Sr. on Oct. 19, 1946, in Bristol Tennessee. He died Sept. 21, 1973, in Orlando, Fla. Audrey enjoyed reading historical, romance, and American Indian series books, sewing and loved to shop. She was very family-oriented. Most important was her family. She helped to raise her grandson and had a big impact on his life. She liked to speak her mind and was straightforward, with a good sense of humor. Audrey is survived by one daughter, Peggy (Richard) Groharing of Thomson; one son, George O'Neal Jr. of Dallas; one grandson, Christopher W. O'Neal of Warrensburg, Mo.; one sister, Peggy L. (Gene) Moore of Williamsburg, Ohio; and one brother, Clarence O. Jessee Jr. of Cincinnati. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Iris Meade. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Hibbert and Abbie Gail Charles Rife. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and a member of the Church of God. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired employee of Beatrice Pocahontas Coal Corporation and a member of United Mine Workers of America Local Union 1640. Mr. Rife was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Mae Colley Rife, December 1993. Royston BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Amber Cheyenne Royston, age 5, of 238 Basham Hill Road, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2003, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Amber was born on Jan. 26, 1998, in Bristol Tennessee, a daughter to Jason Scott Childress and Tammy Ann Royston. Amber had lived all her life in the Bristol area and attended the Charity Baptist Church. Amber is survived by her mother and stepfather, Tammy Royston and Jeremy Leonard; her father, Jason Scott Childress; two brothers, Cody and Brandon Royston; grandparents, Patsy and John Royston Sr. and Jerry and Vickie Childress; great-grandmother, Clara Shaffer; step-grandparents, Darrell and Rita Jones; three uncles, Johnny Royston Jr., Ronnie Malone and Brad Childress; three aunts, Tina Royston, Jennifer McElyea and Melissa Wampler; and many great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2003, at 2:00 P.M. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dean Livingston officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joie Shaffer, Charles Hudson, Dewayne Jones, Johnny Royston Jr., Brad Childress and Cody Blevins. Marion Teaster MARION -- Marion Virginia Hankla Teaster, age 75, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at her home in Marion. She was born in Marion to the late John and Stella Wolfe Hankla and was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lynn Widener. She was a member of the Marion Baptist Church and was retired from Harwood. Survivors include husband of 51 years, James Herbert Teaster; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Mary Teaster, Marion; two sisters, Ruth Jones, Johnson City and Helen Bridgette, Colonial Heights, Va.; seven grandchildren, Ronnie Lambert, Nicholas Widener, Jason Teaster, Joshua Teaster, Jeffrey Teaster, Angelina Farmer and Daniel Tuell; two great-grandchildren, Kevan Lambert and Hunter James Lambert. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion, with Rev. Herman Cress officiating.
