Kestner WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Titus William Kestner, age 57, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at his home. He was born in Washington County, Va., to the late William McKinley Kestner and Cathaleen Reedy Kestner Wise. Mr. Kestner was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was retired from the Bell South Corp. after 30 years and was currently employed by Spirit Telecom. He served in numerous community activities and was a Christian. (Bill Jr.) Wingo Jr., age 87, formerly of Cedar Bluff, Va., died Monday, July 28, 2003, in a Roanoke hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Cedar Bluff and was the son of the late William W. and Sarah Grinstead Wingo. He had made his home in the Cedar Bluff and Richlands area most of his life, having moved to the Roanoke area in 1995. He was a retired maintenance supervisor of Pittston Coal Co. and a Richlands High School Class of 1932 graduate. He was a member of the Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church. He was a member of UMWA Local 7327 Jewell Valley, Va., and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Vandyke (Dot) Wingo; one daughter, Sarah Josephine Wingo; two sisters, Lois McGraw and Mary Margaret Crosette; and one brother, David Wingo, preceded him in death. Survivors are: two daughters: Darla W. Barrow and husband, Jack C. of Abingdon; and Dottie Lee Wingo of Roanoke; one son, William W. Worley BRISTOL, Va. -- Robert F. Worley, 73, passed away Monday, July 28, 2003, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., and was the son of the late Marcus Acuff and Nora Lee Shaffer Worley. He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Japan. Mr. Worley was retired from SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceutical Company and then operated Rob's Small Engine Repair and Sharpening Service in Bristol Virginia. He was a member of Union Hope Bible Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder since 1968. Survivors include his wife, Lillian N. Worley; two sisters, Jeanette Brewer of Bristol Tennessee, and Savada Fleenor of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 o'clock, Thursday, July 31, 2003, in the Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Barr and Rev. Philip Cooper officiating.
