Virginia Ruth Bowlin BLOUNTVILLE -- Virginia Ruth Cunningham Bowlin, age 64, entered eternal rest Friday morning, August 1, 2003, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. Born on Jan. 10, 1939, in Kingsport, a daughter of the late Clarence and Ollie Wagner Cunningham, she had resided in this area her entire life. Mrs. Bowlin was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Bowlin was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara "Bobbie" Haile and Marian Alvis. The Bowlin Family would like to extend a very special thanks to Dr. McElroy and nurses and caregivers who not only cared for Ruth but also saw to the families comfort as well. Pruitt Sr. MENDOTA -- Thomas Saunders Pruitt Sr., age 68, went to be with the Lord, Friday, August 1, 2003, at his home. Mr. Pruitt was born in Tazewell County, Va., having lived in Broadford, Va., Saltville, Chilhowie and later moving to Mendota in 1977. He was the son of the late William C. and Virgie Orange Pruitt. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U. S. Marine Corps. He was a former employee of H. S. Williams Construction Company, Barker Brothers Construction Company and Holston Steel. Mr. Pruitt was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Ellen Pruitt. He graduated from Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University in 1983. He was an avid hang-gliding instructor and pilot. He managed a farm in Blountville, started by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Hillman. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Hillman Tucker. Ray is survived by his soul mate, Rebecca Banks of Blountville; his father, Donald M. Tucker of Knoxville; his brothers, Mark H. Two brothers, Ivel and Cecil Stanley, also preceded Mrs. Younce in death. Graveside services for Mrs. Younce will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday from the Swindall Cemetery, Route 2, Clintwood, with Kenneth Childress presiding. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Clintwood Funeral Home. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
