She had lived most of her life in the Bristol area, was a homemaker and a member of the Key Street Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurmon L. Duffield SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE, Va. -- Audrey Brewer Duffield, 75, passed from this world on August 13, 2003, at her home, surrounded by her family. Born August 20, 1927, to the late Robert L. and Maggie Brewer, she was one of eight children born to the couple. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert (Blake) Brewer, Van Brewer and Blane Brewer; sisters, Sybil Brewer Rouse and Vera Brewer Rouse (the girls married Rouse brothers); her brothers-in-law, Bud Rouse (Vera) and Harry Mays (Phyllis), and a son, Roger S. Duffield. Audrey is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Jack L. Duffield Jr.; daughter, A. Gail Duffield Crowe of Roanoke; daughter-in-law, Vicky Duffield Richmond and husband Toby Richmond of Bristol Tennessee; granddaughter, Michelle S. Cabaniss and husband Brian S. Cabaniss; beloved great-grandson, Jacob Landon Duffield Shaw of Roanoke; granddaughter, Sabrina Duffield Somerby and husband Chad Somerby; cherished great-granddaughter, Victoria Ivy Somerby of Franklin, Tenn.; brother, Veldon C. Audrey is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, honorary family members; as well as innumerable friends, In 1944, at the tender age of 17, Audrey chanced to meet a young but gallant Jack Duffield of Abingdon. Through neighbors, Jack learned of Audrey's name and began to pursue her. She graduated from Liberty Hall High School in Lodi, Va. There she was named "All-County Forward" for her women's basketball team her senior year. Audrey and Jack were married on January 11, 1947, after three years of courting, and settled in Bristol Tennessee to begin their family, with Roger Stanley being born September 1947, followed seven years later by Audrey Gail in July 1954. In 1968, with Roger serving in the Navy and Gail in high school, the family moved to Roanoke. Audrey and Jack had numerous business ventures (not all that Audrey approved of). Among those businesses were Crown Beauty & Barber Supply, Inc., Salem, Va., and The Galley Restaurant, Moneta, Va. Not being able to ever truly retire, both Audrey and Jack continued to work at various jobs. Audrey's last work experience was working with her granddaughter, Michelle, for Lynwood M. Wells Sr., as a care giver until his death in January, 2002. Audrey was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Moneta. Audrey took great pleasure in her family and friends (memorable trips to Vegas and Hawaii), was very hard-working and dedicated to all tasks that she undertook and, of course, made friends everywhere she went. She was a one-of-a-kind lady, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and, of course, friend. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Carl Allen "Rex" Hubbard, and several brothers and sisters. Dave served as executive vice-president. Orville Trivette Sr. BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Rev. Orville Preston Trivette Sr., age 91, of 271 Emmett Way, went home to be with Jesus Monday, August 11, 2003, at the VAMC. He was born in Bristol Tennessee on Feb. 19, 1912, to the late William Clayburn Trivette and Nannie Elizabeth Manuel Trivette. He was retired from Edmond Bros. Supply Co., and was a veteran of World War II. He was a devout Christian and servant of the Lord for over 50 years, and served as pastor of several churches. He was a loving husband, father and a very special papaw. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Ciara Katlyn Woods, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Goldie V. Trivette.
