Tereasa Campbell FREDRICKSBURG, Va. -- Tereasa Gail Mullins Campbell, 42, died Thursday, August 14, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital. Survivors include her husband, William H. Campbell Jr.; two sons, Christopher and Covington, both of Ladysmith, Va.; parents, Buford and Peggy Mullins of Woodford, Va.; brothers, Wayne Mullins of Sparta, Va., and Gary Mullins of Woodford; sisters, Cherrie Fee of Woodford and Diane Atkins and husband Joseph of King George, Va.; her maternal grandmother, Maudie Fleming of Clintwood, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Burial will follow in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery. Edward Caudill Jr. CLEVELAND, Va. -- Edward (Ed) Caudill Jr., 73, died Thursday, August 14, 2003, at his home. Born November 13, 1929, in Washington County, Va., a son of the late Edward Caudill and Annie Bott Caudill, he had lived in Russell County the past 18 years. He was a retired employee of Burlington Mills in Bristol and was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran during the Korean War. He was a former member of the Cleveland Lifesaving Crew. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elvia Quesenberry, Sylvia Caudill and Goldie Fields, a brother, Silvon Caudill, and a stepson, Billy Ray Linkous. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Linkous Caudill; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra Caudill Bain and Phillip Bain, St. Charles, Mo.; a son, Freddie Caudill, Mendota; two stepsons and their wives, Adam and Marlene Linkous and James and Nancy Linkous, all of Cleveland; a stepdaughter-in-law, Estella Linkous, Cleveland; three grandchildren, Michael Bain, Michelle Bain and Teresa Caudill; four step-grandchildren, Ray Linkous, Ryan Linkous, Kerensa Linkous and Rachel Linkous; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Bain, Alyssa Wallace, Nathan Wallace and Kelsey Caudill; three sisters, Belvia Riddle, Vivian Bellamy and Corabell Warren, all of Abingdon, and two brothers, Calvin Caudill, Abingdon and William (Frankie) Caudill, Front Royal, Va. Elliott BRISTOL, Tenn. -- James W. Elliott, M.D., formerly of Lebanon, Va., passed away on Friday, August 15, 2003. Dr. Elliott was born on the family farm, Winfall, in Campbell County, Va., on February 12, 1911, a son of the late Andrew Walton Elliott and Nanny Daniel Elliott. He studied at Roanoke College and the Medical College of Virginia, graduating in 1936. He interned in Philadelphia before joining his brother, Dr. W.C. Elliott, in medical practice in Lebanon. He saw many of his early patients in their homes, who, at times, were reachable only by horseback. With his brother, he founded the first hospital in Russell County, Lebanon General Hospital, and helped it grow to a 130-bed facility before transferring it to the Russell County Medical Center in the late 1970s. Following his retirement from active practice in 1985, he authored a book of stories about the adventures he encountered as a country doctor. Dr. Elliott was a charter member of the Lebanon Lions Club. He was honored for his years of practice by Virginia Commonwealth University and by the Medical Society of Virginia. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the Southern Medical Association and the Medical Society of Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Sue D. Elliott of the home; three sons, James W. Elliott Jr. of Bristol, John A. Elliott of Lebanon and Robert F. Elliott of Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, Rev. Hatcher S. Elliott of Swannanoah, N.C.; five grandchildren, Melise N. Elliott, Catherine W. Elliott, Mary Anna Elliott Donahoe, John A. Elliott Jr. and J. Andrew Elliott; two step-grandchildren, Lauren Jo-Don and Tori Looney; four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel A. J. Evelyn Cox Horn FRANKLIN, Va. -- Evelyn Cox Horn, age 60, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 16, 2003, in Courtland Healthcare Center in Courtland, Va. Born February 27, 1943, and raised in Honaker, Va., she was a daughter of the late Willie and Maude Cox Fields. She was the wife of the late William Cox and was married to Rev. Elster Horn for 21 years. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful member of the Rock Church of Franklin, Va. In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Fields. Lovingly known as "Miss Velma" by the hundreds of children she ministered to through her work in youth ministries in the Bristol area. She loved serving the Lord, taking care of family and friends, cooking and singing with the Gospel Gordonaires. He was a native of Johnson County and was born April 14, 1934, to the late Robert Winfield and Jennie Mae Wood Scott. He was retired from Lukens Steel in Pennsylvania and was a World War II veteran, having served in the Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby E. Scott, who died August, 2002, and by two sisters and three brothers. He was of the Baptist faith. Lanny was the owner of Alison's Restaurant of Abingdon and Fish Tales Restaurant of Norton and a former owner of Fish Tales Restaurant of Bristol. He was a dedicated member of his church family at First Freewill Baptist Church in Bristol Virginia. Lanny was deeply loved by his family and he will be truly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Patty Odum Stoots; two cherished daughters, Mindi Rae Stoots of the home and Kacy Stoots Fleming and her husband, Kent, a special son-in-law, of Bristol Virginia; three grandchildren to whom he was a devoted granddaddy, Mason Ray Fleming, Max Daniel Fleming and Marshall Carter Fleming; his mother, June Haga Stoots; one sister, Patty Stoots Lauzon of Bristol Virginia, and one brother, Jerry Stoots of Charleston, S.C. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 o'clock Monday, August 18, at First Freewill Baptist Church, Euclid Avenue, Bristol Virginia, with Rev. Darrell Pickle officiating. Tittle, age 74, 293 Booher Road, died Friday, August 15, 2003, in Metropolitan General Hospital, Nashville. Mr. Tittle was a Unicoi County native, having lived in Bristol for the past 30 years. He was a son of the late J. W. "Bill" and Edith Britt Tittle. Mr. Tittle was a U. S. Air Force veteran, having served in Korea. He retired from Reynolds Aluminum as a tool and die maker, after 20 years of service. Mr. Tittle was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Bristol Moose Lodge. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William F. Tittle. Survivors include two sons, Gregory K. Tittle, Johnson City, and James Brian Tittle, Bristol Tennessee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Nola Marie and Allen Almaroad, Bristol Virginia, and Vickie Wilson, Bristol Tennessee; one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Mick Bergendahl, Erwin; four grandchildren, Kristina Wilson, Jacob Gregory Tittle, Zachary Keith Tittle and Cody Allen Hensley, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ted Tryon GRAY, Tenn. -- Ted Tryon, age 57, 139 Hideaway Hills Rd. #36, died Thursday, August 14, 2003, at James H. Quillen Medical Center following a lengthy illness. A native of New York, he was the son of Charles Robert and Ruth Tryon. Mr. Tryon was an active member of Cornerstone Church. He was an employee of Appalachian Bible Company as a computer programmer. He was a Communications Specialist, serving in Japan with the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tryon was preceded in death by a son, Peter Charles Tryon, on November 3, 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Ann Tryon Haller of Shelby Township, Mich.; a son, Ted Tryon, Jr. of Sterling Heights, Mich.; two sisters, Debbie Schloss of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and Becky Ellis of Owine, Iowa; a brother, Charles Tyron of Lamont, Iowa; a half-brother, Mark Adams of California; six step-brothers, Kenneth Adams, Lyle Adams, Blair Adams, Larry Adams, Lynn Adams and Keith Adams; three step-sisters, Delores Gutierrez, Bonnie Adams Hankins and Cheryl Adams Mason, and four grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The graveside service for Ted Tyron will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at the VA National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn., with Dr. Barry L. Burns officiating.
