Blaylock, 66, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Bristol Virginia and was a son of the late Edward Lee and Eliza Jo Worley Blaylock. He retired from Mitchell Powers Hardware after 40 years of service. Mr. Blaylock was a lifetime member of Campground United Methodist Church and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Wilma J. Blaylock; two daughters, Amy B. Statzer and husband, Darrell, of Mendota, Va., and Karen Lynn Owens and husband, David, of Bristol Virginia; two sons, Sam Blaylock and wife, Shelia, of Bristol Virginia, and Brad Blaylock and wife, Tammy, of Abingdon; two stepsons, Jeff Stewart and wife, Kim, of Kingsport and Steve Stewart and wife, Vivian, of Mt. Carmel, Tenn.; one brother, J. W. "Bill" Smith III and wife, Mary, of Bristol Virginia; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, in the Akard Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Austin Cook and Rev. Keith McGrew officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the graveside in Campground Cemetery. Trula Grizzle LEBANON -- Trula Elsie Duncan Grizzle, 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at the Holston Valley Medical Center. Born September 27, 1929, at Carbo in Russell County, a daughter of the late Walter Duncan and Bessie Taylor Duncan, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Shirley Ann Grizzle and an infant son, two sisters, Maggie Duncan and Sophie Sutherland, and two brothers, Russell Duncan and Odell Duncan. Bradley Strouth SWORDS CREEK, Va. -- Mr. Bradley Strouth, age 67, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at his home. Born June 1, 1936, in Raven, Va., he was a son of the late Hassell Wesley and Orvil Ora Price Strouth. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of the Miller Creek Community Church. A disabled coal miner, he had worked for Island Creek VP 3 and was a member of the UMWA 1640. Jones Trevathan JOHNSON CITY -- Mable L. Jones Trevathan, age 87, 400 N. Boone St., Johnson City, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, in the Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Trevathan was a native of Pineola, N.C., but had been a resident of Johnson City since early childhood. She is a daughter of the late Clyde Jones Sr. and Maude Elma Matney Jones. She was an assistant for Dr. Colin Brown. Mrs. Trevathan was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Suzannah Wesley Sunday School Class and a former member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Johnson City Senior Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gus H. Trevathan, in 1980, one son, Don Trevathan, in 1991 and one brother, Ray M. Jones, in 1990. Mrs. Willis was born on January 2, 1917, in Blountville, a daughter to the late William Henry and Bettie Denney Large. Mrs. Willis had lived all her life in the Blountville area, was a former employee of Raytheon, the Sullivan County School System for Blountville Elementary and was a Tupperware sales representative. She was a member of the Blountville Christian Church and was a life member of the Blountville Elementary School PTA and a foster mother. Mrs. Willis was preceded in death by her husband, French C. Willis. Mrs. Willis is survived by one daughter, Florence Moore; son and daughter-in- law, Gene Willis and wife Pat; grandchildren, Karen Rhymer and husband Butch, Mitch Moore and wife Donna, Kathy Artrip and husband Kenneth and Nikki Milhorn; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Alexis, David, Austin and Brittany; one brother, Ralph Large; one sister, Clara Willis, and special friend, Mrs. Turley. She was a homemaker, a member of Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church for 54 years and the last surviving family member in her generation. Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Yates, on April 25, 1997. Two daughters, Anita and Mary Alice Yates, six brothers and two sisters also preceded her. Survivors include two daughters, Anna Lee Fields of Clyde, Ohio, and Shirley Yates and husband Nubern of Haysi; five sons, Kenneth Yates and wife Grace of Bellevue, Ohio, Jimmy C.
