Mr. Brace was the son of the late Mary and Israel Brace Sr. of Scranton, Pa. He worked for 20 years for the Philadelphia Transportation Company as a trolley operator and owned and operated the American Hotel in Kresgeville, Pa., for 13 years. He retired after working 10 years for the Cecil Auto Parts Company of Elkton, Md. Mr. Brace was a U.S. Army veteran serving 3 ½ years in the Guadalcanal. He was a life member of the VFW Post 9817 in Elkton Survivors include wife of 46 years, Emily Brace; four stepsons, Mario D. Rufus Brown Jr. MOUNTAIN HOME, Tenn. -- Rufus Jr. (Jay) Brown, age 80, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, in the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Mr. Brown was a native of Kentucky and a son of the late Rufus Sr. and Kate Steele Brown. He was a World War II Army veteran and a retired machinist. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Oliver Brown, three sisters, Fannie Dodge, Martha Locke and Lucille Larson, and one brother, William Brown. Survivors include three sons, Jerry Brown, Rock Hill, S.C., Robert Brown, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Johnny Gregory, Rock Hill; two grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; one brother, James Brown, Ft. Ronald Clark Kelly BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Dr. Ronald Clark Kelly, 70, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, from Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Asheville, N.C., a son of the late Brown and Hettie Hipp Kelly, and had lived in Bristol for 40 years. He graduated from Wake Forest University and Bowman-Gray School of Medicine and served as a medical doctor in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a retired senior partner of Bristol Radiology Associates, treated patients throughout southwestern Virginia and northeastern Tennessee, and was a local pioneer in oncology and in making Bristol a leader in comprehensive radiological services. He was a clinical professor at East Tennessee State University and many x-ray technicians are benefiting from a grant in his name at Southwestern Virginia Community College. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gideons International and the American Medical Association. He spent the last 15 years serving the Lord through his ministry and from Living Faith Television, where he co-hosted "Pickin' Time" on WLFG-TV. He was past president of the Bristol Area Kidney Foundation, was a scout master with Troop 3 of the Boy Scouts of America and was active with the American Lung Association. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Dix J. Kelly; two sons, Dr. David Kelly and his wife, Debbie, and Kevin Kelly and his wife, Diana; three daughters, Dr. Shannon Lowe and her husband, Kenneth, Jacinda Lauman and her husband, Peter, and Tabatha Dixon and her husband, William; grandchildren, Beth Kelly Price and her husband, Kenny, Lauren Kelly, Nathan Kelly, Shelby Lowe, Paden Lowe, Peter Lauman III, Ashley Rose Lauman, Adam Lauman and Seth Lauman, and a special mother-in-law, Dorothy Johnson. Taylor, age 81, passed away Aug. 27, 2003, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. and Sara K. Taylor of Bristol Virginia, and one brother, Scott Taylor. He was a very special person who was loved by all. He worked at the auto repair business he co-owned with his brother, Hiram, in Red Bank, N.J., for 29 years before retiring in 1978 and returning to the Bristol area. He attended Beulah Land Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Inez Taylor; two sons, Tony A. Taylor and his wife, Melba, and David J. Taylor and his wife, Melissa, both of Bristol Tennessee; two grandchildren, Andrew and Miranda; one brother, Hiram Taylor and his wife, Marjorie "Skip", of Bristol Virginia; one sister, Eva Cook of Bristol Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews, including one special nephew, Mickey Lovett. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, Aug. 29, at 2 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery, with Rev. Edward Swartz officiating, assisted by Dr. William Houck and Rev. Scott Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Gerry Boccarossa, Dr. Rick Whiles, Ronnie Dombroski, James Milhorn, Burdette "Curly" Sanders and the many friends and family members too numerous to mention. William Thomas BRISTOL, Va. -- William Henry "Bill" Thomas, age 74, of 609 Mary St., passed away on Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Gate City, Va., and was the son of the late Kyle and Francis Turner Thomas. He was a former employee of H.P. King and Sullins College. He retired from Bristol Memorial Hospital and was a volunteer worker at Virginia High School. He was a member of State Street Church of Christ and also attended Gate City Church of Christ. Mr. Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include sisters, Mae Morris and husband James of Charlotte, N.C., Francis Riddle and husband David of Charlotte and Judy Frank of Bristol Virginia; aunts, Betty Wolf of Gate City, Elizabeth Simpson of Gate City and Laura Gaines of Los Angeles; several nieces and nephews.
