Bruner BRISTOL, Va. -- William Allen Bruner, age 63, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was the son of the late Howard and Ruth Leonard Bruner and was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area. Mr. Bruner was a self-employed salesman and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Watauga Masonic Lodge 622 Scottish Rite Freemasonry S&J USA 32nd degree. He was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Hall Bruner. Mr. Clark was born in Bristol Tennessee. He was a graduate of Virginia High School, where he played on the Virginia High Bearcat football team, ran track and was King of Virginia High Spring Festival. A graduate of Northeast State University, Blountville, he moved to the Washington, D.C., and Maryland area and the last nine years made his home in Warrenton, Va., and Bealeton. For the past 20 years, he was employed by Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, where he was shop maintenance supervisor. A member of Faith Christian Church and International Outreach Center in Warrenton, he was a former member of Lee Street Baptist Church, Bristol Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Rowena Clark; maternal grandparents, Mrs. Virginia Kinchloe and Mr. Floyd Worley; paternal grandparents, Mr. Mitchell and Mrs. Nora Clark; and two aunts, Mrs. Louise Dent and Blanche L. Willie Herman Cox EASLEY, S.C. – Mr. Willie Herman Cox, age 84, Gray, Tenn., died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, in the Palmetto Baptist Medical Center, Easley, S.C., following a brief illness. Mr. Cox was a native of Washington County, Tenn., and a son of the late John Daily and Maggie Hilbert Cox. Mr. Cox retired from the Tennessee Eastman Company after 41 years of service. He was a life-long member of Boones Creek Christian Church. Mr. Cox was an avid fox hunter and a member of the National Fox Hunters Association as well as numerous local Tennessee Fox Hunter Associations. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Dye Jr. SWORDS CREEK, Va. -- Mr. Preston L. "Buck" Dye Jr., age 73, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, near Paintsville, Ky. Born Jan. 16, 1930, in Richlands, he was a son of the late Preston L. Dye Sr. and Elsie Mae Miller Dye. A lifelong resident of Swords Creek, he had been a heavy equipment operator all of his life. He was a member of the Harvest Time Tabernacle Church at Call Valley in Swords Creek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Larry Allen Dye; and one daughter, Wilma Diana Dye. He was a native of Johnson City and former resident of Bluff City but had lived 28 years in Martinsville. He was the son of the late Edward C. Lovelace Sr. and Beulah Arnold Lovelace. Mr. Lovelace was a former employee of Tultex and a U.S. Navy veteran in the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of Clearview Baptist Church. He worked for L&N Railroad during World War II and was a retired coal miner, having worked in the Glenbrook Mines in Kentucky until his retirement. He was a member of UMWA District 28, Local 1055. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan Neff and Dora (Carmony) Neff; three sisters, Margaret High, Myrtle Marcum and Florence Ball; and by a brother, Elmer Neff. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 458 in Swartz Creek and a 32nd-degree Mason. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of the Bay City Consistory, Bay City, Mich. He also worked with the DeMolay. He was an accomplished finish and trim carpenter for more than 38 years and a licensed barber in the state of Texas. William Wright MOORESBURG, Tenn. -- William "Bill" Wright, 89, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at his home in Mooresburg. A former resident of Norton, he made his home in Hawkins County for the past 20 years. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Callie Wright; a daughter, Ava Kincer; and a son, Charles Keller Wright. Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Hall, Mooresburg; a son, Abel Wright, Norton; a sister, Bessie Sturgill, Norton; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel.
