She was a graduate of Rich Valley High School and Montreat College in North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Douglas Maloyed. She was a member of the Rural Missionary Baptist Church and the Banno-Knockus Community Club in Banner, where she was a lifelong resident. She was active in her church and displayed a genuine love for her church family. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Garnet G. Porter, who was killed in 1945 while serving in the U.S. Navy, an infant, Glen Edward Porter and Howard Wendell Porter. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Arch Jordan; two sisters, Belle Daugherty, Mentor, Ohio, and Janice Yeary, Coeburn; six brothers, Cecil Porter, Joe Porter, Bill Porter and Paul Porter, all of Coeburn, Fred Porter, Abingdon and Arthur Porter, Meadowview, Va.; her nieces and nephews were a special part of her life and they loved being at her home, where each one felt special, also attending family gatherings there. He was a member and former deacon of the Guest River Pentecostal Church and was retired from Appalachian Oil Company. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was active in the VFW Post 4301, where he was a past post commander, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 56 and the American Legion. He formerly was a member of the Norton Rescue Squad and will be remembered by many as a coach in Norton's Little League Baseball Program. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who loved crocheting, spending time with her family and her cats.
