He was born in Floyd County to the late Fugate Clark and Lula Light Altizer. He was a member of the Marion Baptist Church and retired from Harwood Corporation after 44 years as a designer. Survivors: wife, Leona Altizer, Marion; three sons, Bobby Altizer, Marion, Eddie Altizer, Hilton Head Island, S.C., and David Altizer, Marion; two brothers, Edgar Altizer, Christiansburg, Va., and Clinton Altizer, Christiansburg; sister, Sadie Guthrie, Christiansburg; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Dolly Colley BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Mrs. Dolly Colley, age 80, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport. Mrs. Colley was a former resident of Bristol Tennessee, but had lived at Wexford House in Kingsport for over two years. Mrs. Colley was a former resident of Buchanan County, Va., and moved to Bristol in 1973. She was a member of Jackson Memorial Church in Bristol Virginia. She was a homemaker and an Avon representative. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Garland Colley; her son, Michael Colley, and a grandson, Gregory Lester. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Polly Viers, and all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters, Barbara Dixon and Peggy Colley of Kingsport, Janie and Sam Yates of Blountville and Sandra and Michael Anderson of Richmond, and a son, Jeffrey and Margi Colley of Bristol Tennessee. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren. She had been a resident of NHC Healthcare for nearly seven years after suffering a stroke in 1996. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Mollie Fleenor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Estle Dunn, grandsons, Mark and Jeff Emmert, four brothers and four sisters. Roy Lee Ford BLOUNTVILLE -- Roy Lee Ford, age 69, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at the Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Sullivan County, Tenn., on Jan. 17, 1934, a son of the late Sam and Cecil Harr Ford, he had resided in this area his entire life. Mr. Ford retired in 1990 from Sullivan County Highway Department as assistant road commissioner following 30 years of service with the department. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Ford will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and brother and for his love of fox hunting. Mr. Ford is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Shirley Faye Leonard Ford, in 1987, a daughter, Judy Marie Houser, in 1977, and by one brother, Jim Ford. Survivors include son, Sammy J. Ms. Hale was a Johnson City native and a daughter of the late Robert Rance and Martha Kate Thomas Jackson. She was a court reporter for the Johnson City court system. Ms. Hale was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church as well as the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was also active in the Circle of Hope, Communion Steward and the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Mrs. Hale was a longtime member of the Johnson City Junior Service League and the Bridge Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Stephen A. Hale, in 1991. Mr. Haskins was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Coldwater, Mich. He lived in Arizona for 25 years. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era and also in Korea during the Cold War. He owned and operated a computer business. He was an active member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church and sang in the choir. He loved music and photography. He was a gifted "jack of all trades". He had received a patent from the U.S. Government. He enjoyed life to the fullest, including flying ultra-light air crafts. He built and owned an airport in the Maricopa area. Survivors include his wife, Bette; his mother, Edna Haskins of Bristol Tennessee; three daughters, Ellen Bower of Chicago, Lola Dundas of Casa Grande and Patricia Moreland of Maricopa; three sons, Thomas Haskins of Ripon, Wis., Travis Haskins of Tempe and Wesley Hasking of Winslow; two brothers, Eugene Haskins and Michael Haskins, both of Bristol Tennessee; his former wife, Emma Graham of Pinetop-Lakeside; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Anna Ruth Nelson ELIZABETHTON -- Anna Ruth McKinney Nelson, 76, 621 South Roan St., died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, in the Pine Ridge Care Center. A native of Dickenson County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Pink and Maude Matherly McKinney. She had lived in Carter County for the past 64 years. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2166 Ladies Auxiliary, having served as president for 12 years. She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Joey Burrow, a granddaughter, Carla Bowers, a grandson-in-law, Chris King, and a sister, Audrey Duty. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Joe C. Nelson; three daughters and two sons-in- law, Carol and Raymond Bowers, Sandra and Fred Hyder and Karen Margo Nelson, all of Elizabethton; one son, Michael Joe Nelson, Elizabethton; two sisters, Lena Moore and Mildred Campbell, both of Elizabethton; two brothers, Charles McKinney, Port Orange, Fla., and Bill McKinney, Elizabethton; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Richardson and her husband Danny, Tina Reece and her husband Tim and Angela King, all of Elizabethton, and Penny Hyder, Johnson City; one grandson and his wife, Chris and Leia Hyder, Dandridge, Tenn.; three great- granddaughters, Randi Richardson, Chrissie King and Laura King, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. He was a self-employed coal truck driver and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
