Gary Alvas Carver ABINGDON – Gary Alvas Carver, age 48, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at his residence. He was a native of Davy, W.Va. He was the son of the late William David Carver and was preceded in death by three brothers, Everett Carver, James Carver and Charles Carver. Survivors are his mother, Maxine Carver of Abingdon; two daughters, Emma Elaine Carver of Inkster, Mich., and Angela Carver of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Emma Jean Adkins of Abingdon and Shirley Ann Hill of Warren, Mich.; one brother, Jessie R. Compton HONAKER – Mrs. Ellen Musick Compton, age 89, went to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Grundy. Born Nov. 22, 1913, in Honaker, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Eliza Dye Musick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Compton Sr.; two daughters, June Harris and Marie Willis; and one grandson, David Compton. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include five sons: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Compton, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Compton and Mr. Sherman Compton, all of Richmond; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Compton and Mr. Carl Compton, all of Honaker; two stepdaughters: Irene Scott of Norfolk, Va.; and Lola Pearl Danza of North Carolina; two sons-in-law, Mr. Leroy Willis of Richmond and Mr. Talbert Harris of Honaker; 19 grandchildren; 38 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild also survive. Osborne, 64, died Sept. 28, at his home. Born in Calhoun County, W.Va., he was a son of Mrs. Nila Osborne of Five Forks and the late Carl Osborne. He was a former resident of Sistersville, W.Va., for 30 years, and was employed at First Federal Savings and Loan. He was a retired vice-president of Traders Savings and Loan in Parkersburg, W.Va. He was a 32nd-Degree Mason and a member of Phoenix Lodge 73, AF&AM of Sistersville and Nemesis Shrine Temple of Parkersburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three sisters: Judith Gregory of Bristol Tennessee; Doris Campbell of Scot Depot, W.Va.; and Barbara Campbell of Big Springs, W.Va.; one brother, Carl R. Born Aug. 16, 1943, in Buchanan County, Va., he was a son of the late Pierce and Carrie Elizabeth Barton Rasnake. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a disabled coal miner, having been employed by Clinchfield Coal Company. He was a member of the UMWA and attended the Dante Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thurman Rasnake; and several half-brothers and half-sisters.
