He was a member of VFW Post 9696 at Bluefield, Va. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Lester, and his grandparents, Roy and Carrie Ball. He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Harman and husband Larry of Paintlick, Faye Hall and husband Ronnie of Albemarle, N.C., and Virginia Ruth Hughes of Mt. Ms. McCullough was born April 30, 1929, in Johnson County, Tenn., to the late Scott and Pearl Sharpe Hawks. He was founder and pastor of True Faith Tabernacle and vice-president of the Southern Full Gospel Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. Tiller ABINGDON – Mrs. Armilda E. Tiller, age 78, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at a local health care facility from a short illness. She was born July 28, 1925, in Wyoming County, W.Va., to the late Tice and Effie Lester. She attended the First Assembly of God in Abingdon. Mrs. Tiller was a homemaker and loving mother. She was preceded in death by her husband James C. Tiller Sr. in 1990, two sisters, Mary Lambert and Molly Lambert, a brother, Floyd Lester, and a grandson, Randy Jarvis. Those left to mourn include five daughters, Rosa Fields and husband Oscar of Abingdon, Merle Jarvis and husband Ray of Mansfield, Ohio, Mary McClanahan and husband Stanley of Danese, W.Va., Wanda Tiller, address unknown, and Dora Cline and husband Ervin of Justice, W.Va.; four sons, Donnie Tiller of Highlands, Calif., Tommy Tiller and wife Clara of Abingdon, James C. Tiller Jr. and wife Henrietta of Glen Rogers, W.Va., and John Tiller and wife Marsha of Bristol Tennessee; four brothers, Ed Lester of Mansfield, Herman Lester of Phoenix, Ariz., Alice Lester of Portland, Ore., and Posy Lester of Mansfield; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the branch facility of Farris Funeral Service, located on the grounds of Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, with Rev. Tim Norris and Rev. Leroy Lester officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens. VanDyke MAVISDALE, Va. – Mr. James William VanDyke, age 63, passed away Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at his home following a long illness. Born in Buchanan County, Va., he was the son of the late Hurley and Lettie VanDyke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Doug VanDyke, and one sister, Dellie VanDyke. He was a member of the Rowe Pentecostal Church and owner of Tri State Security Fence Company. Mr. VanDyke is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lora Kennedy and husband Robert of Asheboro, N.C.; two sons, Brian VanDyke and wife Teresa of Concord, N.C., and Jody VanDyke and wife Cindy of Cedar Bluff; three brothers, Ronald VanDyke of Manassas, Va., Hassell VanDyke of Honaker and Tommy VanDyke of Fredericksburg, Va.; one sister, Nellie Coleman of Remmington, Va., and four grandchildren also survive. Widner BRISTOL, Va. – Margaret “Peggy” Fortner Widner, 80, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was a daughter of the late Walter Fortner and Virginia Conley Fortner Slaughter. She was a life-long resident of Bristol and was a member of Scenic Park Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Shank and husband Norman of Missouri, a sister, Shirley Dixon, and a brother, Wesley “W.D.” Fortner, both of Bristol Tennessee. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by three sisters, Joan Craighead, Betty Miller and Mary Barr, and four brothers, Earl, Elmo, George and Bill Fortner. The graveside service is tentatively scheduled for 11 Tuesday morning at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Charles Winebarger BRISTOL, Tenn. – Charles C. Winebarger went to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mr. Winebarger was a native and life-long resident of the Bristol area and a retired employee of Inter-Mountain and Sprint Telephone Systems with over 43 years of service. He attended Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Susie Winebarger; one daughter, Sherry Lynn Reeter and husband Mark of Abingdon; one sister, Grace Sneed of Bristol, and two brothers, Garrett H. Winebarger of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Robert Winebarger of North Carolina. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, from the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Joe Hudson and Brother Carter (Corky) Bates officiating.
