Baines Sr. BRISTOL, Tenn. – James R. (Jimmy) Baines Sr., age 79, of 1197 VI Ranch Road, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Jimmy was born December 17, 1923, a son of the late Eli and Mary Offield Baines. He was a former employee of Aircraft Corporation and self-employed farmer for many years. He was a member of Holston Valley Christian Church, where he had served as deacon and elder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva J. Baines; a sister, Nora Rust; and three brothers, Charles Baines, Ernest Baines and Earl Baines. Survived by his children, Joyce Reed and husband Ronnie, Jim (Sonny) Baines Jr. and wife Rita, Perry Baines and wife Sandy and Johnny Baines; two sisters, Clara Booher and Vivian Hewitt; two brothers, Bob Baines and Bill Baines; 11 grandchildren, Angie, Regina, Robbie, Melissa, Sonya, Tonya, Kristy, Joshua, Tabby, Shannon and Casey, 15 great-grandchildren; and several grandsons-in-law and granddaughters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Holston Valley Christian Church, with Ministers Gary Barnett and Bill Manuel officiating. Burial will follow in Cold Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dale Carrier, Terry Carrier, John Fleenor, Albert Johnson, Greg Barnett, Bud Lawson, Grover Taylor, Dorwin Baines and Frank Baines. Booher KINGSPORT – Patsy Marie Barr Booher, age 54, a resident of 1312 Fall Creek Road, died Wednesday, November 5, 2003, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Sullivan County, Tenn., and daughter of Herman and Mary Rogers Barr. She was an employee of Hamricks and a member of Morrison City Christian Church, where she was a member of the WOW. She was preceded in death by her father; a sister, Mary Jane Barr; and a son, Brian Shane Nixon. She is survived by her husband, John H. Booher; son, Michael Nixon, Blountville; daughter, Cathie Vance, Blountville; sisters, Judy Nixon, Bristol Tennessee, and Donna Stuart, Bluff City; mother, Mary Rogers Barr, Bluff City; and granddaughter, Maggie Vance, Blountville. He was a life long resident of Bristol and Bluff City and was a graduate of East High School. He was an avid University of Tennessee Volunteer football fan, was a fan of Dale Earnhart and a collector of Earnhart memorabilia. Survivors include his sons, Justin and Cody Carrier, and his ex-wife, Darlene Rodgers Carrier, of Bluff City; his parents, Howard L. and Brenda “Tene” McCroskey Carrier, of Bluff City; a sister, Brenda Bays and her husband, Phil, of Blountville; his grandmother, Ruby Ladd Carrier of Bristol; his niece, Lindsey Bays Cuddy, and her husband, Eric; two nephews, Chad and Wesley Bays; a grand-niece, Audreyana Cuddy; and several cousins. Nora Marie Casey SWORDS CREEK, Va. – Mrs. Nora Marie Dye Casey, age 87, of the Long Branch section, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2003, in a Richlands hospital. Born July 18, 1916, in Swords Creek, she was a daughter of the late Joshua Bud and Eliza Mae Mays Dye. She was a lifelong resident of the Swords Creek area and was of the Holiness faith. She was a member of the Rebekah’s Lodge 62 of Richlands, Osage Council 34, Casey-Shortt Post 9640 VFW Auxiliary and DAV Auxiliary Chapter 31. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Gaynelle Blankenship; one son, Trudy Garland Casey; two grandsons, Zandel Darnell Bostic and Eddie Ray Blankenship; five brothers; and one sister. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of the her immediate family. Survivors include her husband, Curtis Casey of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nila Jenette and Thurman Bostic of Honaker, Mavis Lee and Ralph Wingler of Chapmansville, W.Va., and Katie Juanita and David Osborne of Catawba, N.C.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Carlies and Debbie Casey and George Douglas and Barbara Casey, all of Swords Creek, and Carson Eugene Casey of Claremont, N.C.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren also survive. Randy Osborne Deel LEBANON – Randy O. Deel, age 17, of Route 2, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2003. He was a son of Osborne and Lydia Margaret Garrett Deel, a senior at Lebanon High School, where he was a member of VICA and Senior High Y. Randy attended Russell County Vocational School, was employed by Food City and attended the Old Regular Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Emory Deel; and maternal grandparents, Arch Gerald and Sarah Coleman Garrett. In addition to his parents, he is survived by sisters, Ada June Cantrell and husband, David of Lebanon and Crystal Gail Deel of Chilhowie; paternal grandmother, Cynthia Deel of Haysi; special friends, David Hearl, Brook Fields, Patrick Cantrell, Donnie and Leisa Rainbolt, the Class of 2004 and the Russell County Vocational School students. She was the daughter of the late George and Anna Beverly and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gannaway is survived by her husband, James L. She was a native of Castlewood and the daughter of the late C. D. Porter and Rowena Dye Porter Whitehead. Mrs. Harrill had lived in Elizabethton for most of her adult life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton. Mrs. Harrill was a graduate of Milligan College. She taught in the Elizabethton City Schools, primarily in the science department of T. A. Dugger Junior High School. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Frank Harrill of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Greg Bowers of Elizabethton; two grandsons, Alan and Daniel Bowers of Elizabethton; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert L. and Wilma Porter of Castlewood; and one half-sister, D.
