She was also preceded in death by her son, James Garfield Wolfe, and brother, William Nunley. She was a housewife and a member of True Faith Tabernacle. Born in Virginia on Dec. 4, 1915, he was a son of the late Joe and Pauline Worley Bond. Earnest was a veteran of World War II and served in Battery “A” 350th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Searchlight Battalion. He served as an infantry rifleman and took his training at Fort Bragg, N.C. He served in the Philippines. He received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was the widower of Clarice Smith Bond. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Danny Joe Bond. Cato Sr., 70, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. A native and life-long resident of Bristol, he was a son of the late James A. Cato and Odessa Mae McDowell Cato. He was a veteran who served three years in the U.S. Army and was a retired employee of Trailways Bus Lines. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Bristol Tennessee Chapter 39. Mr. Cato was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Mae Day, and his brother, Frederick Lyle Cato Sr. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Hollins Cato of the home; two sons, Charles B. “Charlie” Cato Jr. and Ronald B. Born Jan. 19, 1943, in Hurley, Va., he was the son of E.M. Hatfield and Pauline Bailey Hatfield. He graduated from Hurley High School in 1960 and Emory & Henry College in 1964. He had post-graduate degrees from University of Virginia and Virginia Tech. He had devoted much of his life to education in Buchanan County, serving as president of the Buchanan Education Association, classroom teacher, coach, principal and director of Federal Programs. He became superintendent of schools in 1985 and served for 13 years before his retirement in 1998. He went on to work as adjunct faculty at Emory & Henry College, teaching Latin, and in 2000, he became an agent for the Horace Mann Insurance Company for Buchanan and Tazewell Counties. He was a member of Buchanan First Presbyterian Church, a member of Sandy Valley Lodge 17 AF & AM and a member of the Roanoke Scottish Rite and Kazim Temple. He also served as board member of the Boy Scouts of America-Lonesome Pine Council. Survivors include wife, Patricia Musick Hatfield; mother, Pauline Hatfield, Bristol Virginia; father, E.M. She was a retired teacher in the Russell County Schools with 31 years of service, last having taught at the Oak Grove Elementary School. She attended Emory & Henry College and was a member of the Church Hill United Methodist Church. Earl was one of 12 children born to Arvil and Laura Kiser at Dewey in Pound, May 23, 1922. Earl was a beloved Christian husband and father. He was a long-time member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Pound. Earl was in business for many years in Pound as a Nationwide Insurance agent and Nissan car dealership owner. He was a World War II veteran. Earl took great pride in his church, family and business. He was preceded in death by parents, brothers, Homer, Everette, Delbert and Verlie Kiser, and sisters, Edna Gardner, Roxie Webb and a sister who died at birth. He was retired from the Tennessee Eastman Company where he worked in the research division and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. Mr. Leonard was a member of Central Christian Church. Robinson ROSEDALE, Va. – Charlie Steele Robinson, 74, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. A life-long resident of Russell County, he was a retired employee of the Russell County Cooperative in Honaker, with 38 years of service, and was a farmer in the Dry Branch area. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Honaker VFW Post 9343. He played the fiddle for Black Diamond Edition and was a member of the Dennison United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Mary Robinson and Pearline Boyd and Hugh Hannah, and three brothers, Carl Robinson, Marvin Robinson and James Robinson. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Regina Fields Robinson; a daughter, Kutrena Ann Robinson; a son, Charles Anthony Robinson; six sisters, Louise R. Larry Smith Larry “Danny” Smith, beloved husband, father and faithful friend, went to be with the Lord, Nov. 5, 2003, after suffering from a lengthy illness. He passed away at the age of 51.
