Born July 3, 1916, in Russell County, a daughter of the late Martin Luther Skeens and Cynthia Beatrice (Addie) Jessee Skeens, she was the wife of the late Elmer Adams. She attended Cross Roads Community Church and was a member of the Lebanon Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Grady Skeens and Denny Skeens, and three sisters, Ida Chafin, Cora Powers and Hazel Patrick. Survivors include two sons, Clovis Adams and wife Betty Adams, Castlewood, and James G. Adams and wife Karen Adams, Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Leon and wife Teresa Adams, Jim and wife Lisa Adams, Jeff and wife Shelia Adams, Darlene and husband Billy Hoback, Johnny and wife Emma Adams and Sharon and husband Tony Owens; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Buleah and husband Garnet Worley, Dante, Nanny Bevins, Lebanon, Nevada Dye Robinson, Marion, and Delphia Dean and Gertrude Dean, both of Castlewood; a brother, Gaines Skeens and wife Betty, Lebanon; a host of nieces and nephews and a special family friend, Charlie Castle. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Turner and Rev. Ernest Jessee officiating. Blalock BLOUNTVILLE – Larry William Blalock, age 61, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003. He was a life-long resident of Sullivan County, Tenn., a son of D. Luck and Grace Cross Blalock. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and was retired from Tennessee Eastman with 35 years of service. Mr. Blalock was a past president of the Sullivan County Livestock Association, a member of the Holston Masonic Lodge F&AM No. 559 and a former member of the Holston Optimist Club, along with many other organizations. He was a member of Adams Chapel United Methodist Church, in Blountville, where he served in many capacities. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son. Mr. Blalock is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marian Roberts Blalock; two daughters, Karan M. Blalock McCracken and husband Mark of Blountville and Sherry A. Blalock Sorflaten and husband Christopher of Irving, Texas; one son, Andrew W. Blalock of Blountville; two brothers, Dan Blalock and Jim Blalock, both of Kingsport; one grandson, Cody C. Lammie, 91, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003. He was born in Saltville, a son of the late William Samuel and Daisy Farris Lammie, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He lived most of his life in Roanoke and Moneta, Va., and had lived in Bristol for the past six years. He was a photographer and owned and operated Lammie’s Professional Color Lab in Vinton, Va. He was a member of the Vinton Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Leona Watson Lammie, a sister, Virginia Slagle of Roanoke, and several nieces and nephews. Meade TAZEWELL, Va. – Wanda Lee Fletcher Meade, age 76, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Tazewell Community Hospital of complications from a stroke. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. A life-long resident of Tazewell County, she was born Nov. 2, 1927, at Beech Fork, W.Va. She was a daughter of the late Charles Walter and America Powers Fletcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Paul Meade, two sons, Jack Nelson Meade and Paul Edward Meade, and one sister, Rosa Crockett Lane.
