Loyd David Bailey LEBANON– Loyd David Bailey, 81, was greeted by the Lord early Sunday morning, Nov. 9, 2003. Born Feb. 16, 1922, at Limestone Cove, Erwin, Tenn., he was preceded in death earlier this year by his beloved wife of 53 years, Maye McNeal Bailey. A World War II Army veteran, Mr. Bailey moved to Adrian, Mich., following the war and resided there with his wife and family until retirement. Upon retirement he moved to Sarasota, Fla., where he resided until recent months. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Polly Davis Bailey; a brother, Charles; and sisters, Ethel, Pansy and Edith. Mr. Bailey is survived by a son, Dr. Dwight Bailey and wife Deborah of Lebanon; a daughter, Jackie Hogan and husband Bill of Sarasota, Fla.; five grandchildren: Matthew Bailey and wife Brandy, Bristol Virginia; Jonathan Bailey, Johnson City; Amber Stroupe, Lebanon; and Kelly and Kim Hogan, Sarasota, Fla. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist where she taught Sunday School for several years and was a member of the WMU. Born July 14, 1923, she had lived her entire life in Washington County, Va. She was the daughter of the late Robert Thomas and Lucy Castle Venable. Lorena was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, John Wallace Duncan; three brothers, Hubert Venable, Robert Venable and Link Venable; and three sisters, Stella Snapp, Mary Duncan and Opal Venable. She was a member of the Smyth Chapel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Andrew Douglas Flick, Bob Flick and Jack Flick. Hazelwood, age 71, 119 Oscar Johnson Road, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Rose Ellen Hazelwood. He was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. Mr. Hazelwood was a retired employee of the Tennessee Highway Department as a supervisor in the surveying department. He was also a professional musician. He had performed at the Grand Ole Opry with Carl Story and the Rambling Mountaineers and with Raymond Fairchild and The Maggie Valley Boys. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Hazelwood, September 2002; and two sisters, Ressie Lewis and Mary Potter. She was born in Germany, a daughter of the late Paul and Marie Bittner, and moved to the United States in 1926. She lived in Reading, Pa., from 1926 until 1997, when she moved to Bristol. She was the widow of Martin Kunze and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Leiderkranz Association, both of Reading. Born Jan. 14, 1930, the son of the late Gifford and Rosa Sands Quesenberry, Jack resided in Russell County for most of his life and lived in the Mactown section of Lebanon for the past 21 years. He was a retired coal miner and served as former District 28 Local 1256 president. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include his wife, Faye Quesenberry of Lebanon; six sons and three daughters, Jack (Lewis) Quesenberry Jr., Lisa Quesenberry, Daniel Quesenberry, Johnny Robinson, Evoynne Hurd and Mickey Lynn Johnson Sr., all of Lebanon, Chuck Johnson and Georgia Fannon of Coeburn and Harry Johnson of Manassas, Va.; a brother, Bill Quesenberry of Bremen, Ind.: 18 grandchildren; 25 nieces and nephews; a host of cousins and great- nieces and great-nephews also survive. "Skip" Ritchie KINGSPORT– Hugh Edward "Skip" Ritchie Jr., 56, Newland Ave., was dead on arrival at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center late Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003. Born in Washington County, Va., (Bristol), he served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Division, 10th Mountain Group, 1st Special Forces. He was a millwright at AFG Glass plant with over 35 years of service. He was of the Presbyterian faith and was a member of Kingsport Masonic Lodge 688, Jericho Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite.
