He was born on Dec. 21, 1979, in Lebanon and was of the Baptist faith. He was a 1998 graduate of Lebanon High School and was employed by Ball Cable Construction. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wilson H. Anderson, his great-grandparents, Clarence and Ruth Rasnake, and his great-uncle, Raymond Rasnake. Benny Edward Baker BLUFF CITY – Benny Edward Baker, 82, stepped into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday morning, Nov. 12, 2003, where he was joyously reunited with his wife of 55 years, Mary Leona, and their infant daughter, Mary Lee. Also waiting to greet him were his parents, John and Liza Baker, and four brothers, Jess, Herbert, Earl and Albert Baker. He was born in Wise County, Va., had lived in the Bristol area most of his life, and was retired from the Bristol Tennessee Electric System. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Bluff City and former member of Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church in Bristol Tennessee. He was a veteran of World War II and knew the price of his country’s freedom. Far and wide she was known by her charges as "Monna Tish," and her memory is cherished by hundreds of those little ones, now grown with children and grandchildren of their own. Born July 13, 1918, in Hacket, Ark., he was the son of the late A.J. and Clemmie Mae Goins Sweeten. He lived in McCurtain, Okla., before moving to Raven in 1979. Taylor, age 95, of 349 Smith St., died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Bristol Regional Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Scott County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ballard and Sally May Necessary. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Bluff City United Methodist Church. She was the widow of the late James N. "Rod" Taylor, former mayor of Bluff City. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 9629 and also a past president of this organization. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Eugene Necessary, and one sister, Ollie Redden. Survivors include four nieces, Lynn Britton and husband Paul, Phoenix, Ariz., Isabelle Dotson, Harrisburg, Va., Clara Malone and husband Paul, Bristol Tennessee, and Aileen T. Wright, Johnson City; four nephews, Allen Dotson, Fairfax, Va., William W. Taylor and wife Dorothy, Alexandria, Va., Thurman H. Taylor, Bristol Tennessee, and Monroe Taylor and wife Shirley, Bluff City, and many great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City, with the Rev. Karen Albers officiating. Interment will follow in the Morningview Cemetery, Bluff City. Active pallbearers will be Mike Miller, Clyde Webb Miller, Drew Malone, Mike Malone, James Taylor, David Kelchner and Steven Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ladies Auxiliary, members of VFW Post 9629 and also members of Bluff City United Methodist Church.
