Makayla Dawn and her family are in the care of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. Virginia Bondurant Virginia Lee Bondurant, 88, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Bristol Nursing home. She was born in Winston-Salem, a daughter of the late Charles S. and Lue Harp Lee, and moved to Bristol in 1941 as a nurse with Kings Mountain Hospital. She was the widow George N. Bondurant and was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. She is survived by a brother, Bryant W. Lee and his wife Marissa of Winston- Salem; a sister-in-law, Jean Lee of Greensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews of California and North Carolina. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Army, and of the Baptist faith. Homer was an avid sports fan working with the Coeburn Little League, softball league, Job Corps, high school football and known for his own softball team, the J & S Team. Hugh Amos Mallett BRISTOL, Tenn. – "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life," John 3:16. Hugh Amos Mallett, age 83, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, with his family gathered around him. He was retired from Sullivan County Highway Department, an avid fox hunter and a member of Blountville Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Virginia Comer Mallett, his first wife, Maude Crawford Mallett, his parents, Bertha and Emmitt Mallett, sister, Ruth Mauk, and brothers, George and John Harley Mallett. He was "Papaw" to everyone including his 15 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren. Mrs. Milhorn, 96, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Milhorn is in the care of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home, 2223 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, Tenn. Della Murphy ABINGDON – Mrs. Della Murphy passed away on Nov. 18, 2003, in Vancouver, Wash. She and her deceased husband, Raymond Murphy, had lived in Abingdon from 1980 to 1997. She was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Fairview, Va., one of 11 children of Henry and Rosa Robinette. She married Raymond Murphy in 1946, until he passed away in July, 1990. Della graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in 1937 and started a teaching career in Virginia. Della and Raymond had one daughter, Barbara Lynn. In 1955, having moved to Hamilton, Ohio, Della began teaching at Ross Elementary School and retired in 1980. Upon retirement, Della and Raymond moved to Abingdon, where they found a welcome community in the Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Della taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir at Shady Grove United Methodist Church. After retirement, she volunteered at the Senior Center, calling on home-bound people, reading to the blind and teaching adult literacy. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the AARP and held offices in the United Methodist Women and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a master gardener, devoted Christian and loving mother. She is remembered for her generosity, ability to listen and a great sense of humor. In 1997, she moved to Vancouver, to live with her daughter and son-in-law and to be closer to her granddaughter. She is survived by her only child, Barbara Robinette, and son-in-law, David Kolberg, Vancouver; her granddaughter, Abby Murphy Harris, and grandson-in-law, Troy Sean Harris, Vancouver; her great-granddaughter, Olivia Simone Harris (1 year old), and many other loving family members and friends. A memorial and graveside service will be conducted Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at 3 p.m. in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens, with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating. Pauley SALTVILLE – Mr. Frankie J. Pauley, age 41, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, in the Smyth County Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, William Arville Pauley, and a brother- in-law, Jeffery Andrew Puckett. Survivors: his wife, Katie Puckett Pauley, Saltville; two sons, James "J.D." Kenny Roberts McINTOSH, Fla. – Mr. Hugh "Kenny" Roberts, 57, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at his residence. Mr. Roberts was born on Dec. 16, 1945, in Sullivan County, Tenn. Mr. Roberts attended Holston High School and received his GED while in the Army. While serving his country, Mr. Roberts did a tour of duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He had lived in Florida most of his adult life. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, James and Euna Turner Roberts, and a brother-in-law, Larry Blalock, recently deceased husband of Marion Blalock. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Paul and Shelly Roberts and Sean David and Christy Roberts, both of Williston, Fla; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Denver Kitzmiller, Kingsport, Marian Blalock and Paulette and Steve Everroad, all of Blountville, and Diana Roberts, Church Hill; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Claudia Roberts, Jonesborough, Stanley and Marcelena Roberts, Bluff City, Dwight and Phyllis Roberts, Gray, and David and Beverly Roberts, Church Hill; five grandchildren; three aunts and an uncle, Eileen Collins, Kingsport, Wanda McCormick, Pascagoula, Miss., and Vernon and Virginia Widener, Kingsport, and several nieces and nephews. He was born March 27, 2003, and was the son of Thomas Allen Stringer and Alexis Walk. Also surviving are grandparents, Jacqueline Walk, Roger Louthian, Joseph and Constance Warren, Mamaw Kathy, Mark Walk, Debbie Hines, Peggy and Bob Walk, Doris Springs, Thelma J. Carrier, Linda Chatman, Ronnie and Hope Stringer and Gladys Stringer, and brother, Torrey Stringer.
