Neel, 82, Meadowview Frances Ann Saul, 48, Bristol Tennessee -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clifford Almany Jr. Clifford Eugene "Gene" Almany went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at Bristol Regional Medical Center after a lengthy battle with emphysema. Mr. Almany was born in Bristol, the son of the late Birdie Ruth and Clifford E. Almany. He joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18 and was stationed at various bases in his military career. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: loving wife of 21 years, Sandra Keith Almany; children, Clifford Lee Almany and Cynthia Millican of Bristol and Larry Gene Almany of Minnesota; siblings, H.S. Almany and Sandra Phipps, both of Bristol; grandchildren, Randy Almany, Hannah Almany, Patrick Almany and Benjamin Almany, all of Minnesota, Chase and Miranda Almany of Burlington, N.C., and Sallie and Caleb Millican of Bristol; one great-grandchild; and several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Barker. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 28, 2003, at 8 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with Phil Whitaker officiating. Committal services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Glenwood Mausoleum. Pallbearers include: Larry Almany, Clifford Lee Almany, Kaleb Almany, Chase Almany, Ken Phipps and H.S. Almany. Freddie Barton EASTMAN, Ga. – Mr. Freddie (Boe) Barton, age 54, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2003. He was born in Buchanan County, Va., the son of the late Clarence Barton Jr. and Verna Wilson Barton. He was a native of Buchanan County, Va., and was the superintendent of water/wastewater for the city of Eastman. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Darlene B. Barton; one daughter, Deidra Barton; one son, Darin Barton (Christy); one grandson, Chase Barton; four sisters, Sue Wilson, Nina Duty, Lou Crabtree and Melissa Green; and one brother, Rev. Avery Barton. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Southerland Funeral Chapel in Eastman, with Rev. Paul Cowels officiating. Main St., Abingdon, is serving the family of Mr. Raymond "Bo" Cole. Dennis Crutchfield BRISTOL, Va. – Dennis L. Crutchfield, 75, passed away Monday, November 24, 2003, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol Tennessee, in the presence of his family. Mr. Crutchfield was born September 23, 1928, in Iron Gate, Va., a son of the late Chalmer and Nora Coffey Crutchfield. He married Janet Mae Lockridge on April 29, 1954, in Staunton, Va., and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in business from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Crutchfield relocated to Bristol in 1961, when he began his civil service with the United States government, which continued until his retirement in 1990. He was an active member of Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church in Bristol Virginia, where he served as a head usher and was a past member of the Board of Trustees. In addition, Mr. Crutchfield was an active volunteer with the Meals on Wheels Program for shut-ins. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet Lockridge Crutchfield of Bristol Virginia; his son, Gary B. Crutchfield of Johnson City, and his eldest son, Kevin S. Crutchfield, his wife Kaye, and their three children, Mary Givens, 9, Kinser Leigh, 7, and Elizabeth Scott, 3, all of Bristol Virginia; his sister, Fervan Huffer of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ruel Crutchfield. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 O’Clock Wednesday afternoon in the Heritage Chapel of Memories at Mountain View Cemetery, with Reverend Malcomb Wansley officiating. The committal service will immediately follow. She was a member of Volunteer Baptist Church and was a jewelry sales representative, previously with Carlyle and Company and Hills Department Stores. John Horton Stone BRISTOL, Va. – Dr. John Horton Stone, 49, died Monday, November 24, 2003, after a courageous battle with pancreatitis. Dr. Stone operated his veterinary medical practice at Bristol Animal Clinic. He was active in the raising of Polled Hereford cattle. John is survived by his wife, Terry Hopkins Stone; his children, Farnham and Evelyn; his parents, Amelia Osborne Jarrard and Farnham Jarrard; his siblings and their families, Amelia, Scott and Will Rose of Knoxville, Tenn.; and Charles, Geri and Kaysa Jarrard and David Jarrard of Chicago. He was predeceased by his father, John Horton Stone. A celebration of John’s life will be held at 6 O’Clock Friday evening, November 28, 2003, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Paul Hamilton Fuller IV and Rev. Philip Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
