Snidow II, 46, Damascus Martha Carter Wilkinson, 87, Eden, N.C. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clifford Almany Jr. Clifford Eugene "Gene" Almany went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Bristol Regional Medical Center after a lengthy battle with emphysema. Mr. Almany was born in Bristol, the son of the late Birdie Ruth and Clifford E. Almany. He joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18 and was stationed at various bases in his military career. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include loving wife of 21 years, Sandra Keith Almany; children, Clifford Lee Almany and Cynthia Millican of Bristol and Larry Gene Almany of Minnesota; siblings, H.S. Almany and Sandra Phipps, both of Bristol; grandchildren, Bandy Almany, Hannah Almany, Patrick Almany and Benjamin Almany, all of Minnesota, Chase and Miranda Almany of Burlington, N.C., and Sallie and Caleb Millican of Bristol; one great-grandchild and several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Barker. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at 8 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with Phil Whitaker officiating. Charles E. Anderson ABINGDON – Mr. Charles Early Anderson, 71, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord Nov. 25, 2003. Charles was born in Saltville and was of the Christian faith. After graduation, he joined the Air Force where he rose to the rank of technical sergeant in radio transmissions. While in the service, he returned home on visits where he met and fell in love with Mattie Bell Gillespie, whom he married after his four-year tour of duty, and settled in Abingdon. He worked at Raytheon as a quality inspector for 34 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Anderson of Saltville, brother, Franklin Delano Anderson, sister, Fannie Lou Denia Olinger, and sister, Louella Mae Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Mattie G. Anderson; son, Greg E. Anderson and wife Rita of Abingdon; daughters, Debbie A. Sullins of Abingdon, Linda A. Caruthers and husband Mark of Meadowview and Patricia A. Reynolds and husband David Mark Reynolds of Bristol Tennessee; grandchildren, Matthew Reynolds, Johnathon Widener, Alex Anderson, Travis Sullins, Heather Sullins and Chris Anderson, as well as two great-grandchildren. Boothe MARION – Melissa Poole Boothe, age 34, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Silver Springs, Md., and was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Poole, and a brother, Jeffery Poole. She attended the Gethsemane Baptist Church. Raymond Cole ABINGDON – Mr. Raymond (Bo) Cole was born on Aug. 1, 1933, in Jewel Ridge, Va. He passed away on Nov. 25, 2003, in Abingdon. Mr. Cole was the son of the late Byrd and Okie Cole of Cedar Bluff. He had lived in Abingdon for seven years, moving from Buchanan County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was stationed in France. He was retired in 1990 from General Electric of Winchester, Va., where he was a plant supervisor. He was a member of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church and Abingdon Lodge 48 A.F. & A.M. and the Lions Club of Oakwood, Va. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Matney Cole, one son, Tommy Cole, and two brothers, Rufus and Ralph Cole. She was born in Bluefield, W.Va., a daughter of the late William Taylor Dickey and Addie Harris Dickey, and had lived most of her life in Bristol. She graduated from Virginia High School and attended Bristol Commercial College. She was a secretary and was retired from Bristol Lincoln Mercury. She was a past Matron of Bristol Virginia Order of the Eastern Star and received the 50- year pin in 1980. She was a longtime member of Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church, where, for many years, she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Red Cross Sing-Alongs, who sang at local nursing homes. She is survived by two nieces-in-law, Barbara Dickey of Gate City and Anne Dickey of Charlottesville, and their families. Garland Earl Ketron SEABOARD, Va. – Mr. Garland Earl "Buddy" Ketron, age 82, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at a Richlands hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Toms Creek, Va., and was a son of the late Henry Hicks Ketron and Martha Elizabeth Carico Ketron. He was a graduate of Ervinton High School at Ervinton, Va., and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He had made his home in the Richlands area for the past 57 years and was a retired miner with Pittston Coal Corp. at Laurel Creek 12. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Robert Allen Ketron and James Edward Ketron, one great-grandchild, McKensie Fore, four sisters, Ida Davis, Margie Reynolds, Alice Chandler and Vena Lundy, and seven brothers, Joe, Leslie, Omer, James, Clyde, Hershel and Samuel Ketron. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Betty F. She was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and the Hampton Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lyon in 1979, two brothers, Homer Fleming and Ralph Campbell, and two sisters, Miss June Fleming and Miss Grace Fleming. He was retired from the USAF having served in Korean conflict and the Vietnam War and was retired from the SWVA Mental Health Hospital. She was a graduate of Bethel High School in Abingdon and worked for the FBI under the direction of J. Edgar Hoover. She later worked for Fieldcrest Mills, from which she retired.
