Anderson BLUFF CITY – Adolph (Andy) J. Anderson, 71, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Anderson was a native of Wisconsin, a former resident of Greeneville and had lived in Bluff City for the past several years. He was a son of the late Adolph and Minnie Hawkins Anderson and was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane Gray Anderson; three brothers; and one sister. Mr. Anderson was retired from the Army Corps of Engineers and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and president of Tennessee Federation of Chapters of NARFE. Mr. Anderson is survived by two sons: David Anderson, Clinton, Miss.; and Thomas Anderson, Bluff City; one daughter, Debra Howard, Burleson, Texas; one brother, Myron Anderson, Wisconsin; one sister, Evelyn Martinson, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Anderson will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Bill Gahagan will be the celebrant. A private committal service will be held Friday at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery, Greeneville, Tenn. Members of the Tennessee Federation of NARFE will serve as honorary pallbearers. Lena Myrtle Eads Holt BLUFF CITY – Lena Myrtle Eads Holt, age 84, 661 Weaver Branch Road, beloved mother and grandmother is at peace, as she shed her earthly body to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Walter Dillard and Alice Zella Rotenberry Eads. Ms. Holt was a life-long resident of Bluff City and a member of Bluff City Baptist Church. In 1938, she graduated from Bluff City High School. She married in 1940 and went on to be a caring and loving mother to her six children. In 1990 she retired from Sullivan County School System after 21 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, John Wesley Holt Sr.; a son, John Wesley Holt Jr.; a daughter, Judy Elizabeth Nagata; and one brother. She was a daughter of Sam and Faye Webb Feathers who, along with Donald Dale Cross, twin brother of Ronald Gale Cross; six brothers, Ed Brainerd "Buck," York, Sam, Oakley and Donald Feathers; and her first husband, Earl Cross, preceded her in death. Mrs. Mullen graduated from Blountville High School and Bristol Business College. She and her late husband, Earl Cross, operated Earl Cross Store at Thomas Bridge for many years and she operated the Red Bird Inn and dealt in antiques in her later years. She was a member of Buffalo Christian Church. She was born in Harlan County, Ky., the daughter of the late Theodore and Lillie Cooper and had lived in Bristol since 1959. She was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church of Bristol. Ms. Tolliver was known for being a master quilt maker and will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, friendship and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. She also was extremely patriotic and was proud to be an American. She was the widow of John Tolliver, who passed away on March 28, 1985. Survivors include: daughters: Vera Hockett and husband Phil of Bristol Tennessee; and Johnnie Wilson and husband Charlie of Bristol Tennessee; granddaughters, Colette P. Worley passed away suddenly on Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Bristol Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Mr. Worley was born in Bristol Tennessee on April 14, 1947, to the late Floyd Worley and Virginia Worley. He accepted Christ at an early age by being a member of Hood Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church. He was educated in Bristol Virginia, graduating from Virginia High School. Robert was employed by IRS Brooklyn, N.Y., and Detroit and the Department of the Navy in Cleveland, Ohio. After returning to Bristol his employment consisted of Bristol Regional Hospital and Robinson Mortuary. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rowena Clark; and two brothers, Floyd II and Daniel Worley. Survivors include three sisters: Carolyn Worley, Bristol Virginia; Lorraine Pery (James), Detroit; and Agusta Forest (Willie), Johnson City; two brothers: Wilbur Worley, Johnson City; and David Worley, Durham, N.C.; one uncle, Harry Bradley, Warrensville, Ohio; one aunt, Ruby Booker, Cleveland, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jimmy Lou Carter, Betty Gudger and Darryl Morrison. Judia Riley Wright HAYSI – Judia Riley Wright, age 97, of Route 2, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at the home of her daughter in Haysi. Born in Greasy Creek, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Lee and Lydia K. Riley, a homemaker, a member of the Sandlick Primitive Baptist Church and a member of the Haysi community since 1944. She was preceded in death by her husband, John K. Wright; four brothers; five sisters; five stepchildren; and one son-in-law. Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Louie (Thelma Alice) Ennes of Michigan; Mrs. Palmer (Edith Pearl) Edwards of Haysi; and Mrs. Roy (Jeanette Lee) Sutherland of Arizona; one stepdaughter, Ruby Laforce of Abingdon; 11 grandchildren; a host of step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a host of step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Riley and Arthur Riley, both of Hurley, Va., and one sister, Eula Hall of Pikeville, Ky.
