Farris Funeral Service, 427 E. main St., Abingdon, is serving the family of Mr. Robert "Bob" Roy Cook. Ralph B. Davis CEDAR BLUFF – Mr. Ralph B. Davis, age 72, of 218 Three Way Lane, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at a Richlands hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Red Ash, Va., Jan. 10, 1931, a son of the late Clarence R. and Clara Mercer Davis, both Red Ash natives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ermel and Don Davis, and he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a life-long resident of the Cedar Bluff area and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955. He was a member of the Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church, Past Master of the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge 260 A.F. & A.M., and was awarded the Richlands Area Citizen of the Year in 1986. He was a former executive of S & S Corporation and subsequently Ingersoll Rand Corporation at Claypool Hill, Va., was a patron member of the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Advisory Board for Wachovia Bank. He received an honorary degree from Southwest Virginia Community College and was past chairman and current member of the Southwest Virginia Community College Foundation Board. He was past chairman of Emory & Henry College’s Board of Directors, a member of the Virginia Tech Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, Virginia Tech’s Ut prosim society and past member of the Virginia Tech Foundation Board. Mr. Davis was much respected in the Cedar Bluff and Richlands areas and was very well-known not only for his corporate leadership abilities but for his love of Virginia Tech. She was a daughter of the late Ranald and Crecey Shortridge Charles. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Hillman, 85, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2003. He was a life-long resident of Scott County, born Jan. 1, 1918, to the late Billy H. and Ida Lee Salyer Hillman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Nell Harris Hillman (Sept. 2002), granddaughter, Rebecca Lee Cox, sisters, Leona Adams, Bessie Elliott, Lottie Nickels, Natalee McConnell and three infant sisters and brothers, Bill, Roy, Delmar and Sinclair Hillman. He was a very special husband and father and enjoyed the simple things that made life worthwhile. His career as a farmer was also his hobby. Humphreys, age 73, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born in Meadowview but had lived in Abingdon since 1951. He was the son of the late Annie Glass and George H. Humphreys Sr.. Paul was an active member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church. He had worked for 50 years at Southern States (Washington County Farmers’ Cooperative) in Abingdon, where he had served as manager. Paul had been a master sergeant in the U.S. Army, proudly serving during the Korean War, and was a member of the VFW Post 2, and the American Legion Post 12. Paul was an organizer and lifetime coach with the Abingdon Midget League Football program. He was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Yuhasz, Gladys Faye, Betty Lee and Lila Virginia Humphreys, brothers, Glenn, Delmar and Leonard Humphreys, brothers-in-law, Rev. Roberts BLOUNTVILLE – Willie Roberts, 56, went to Heaven Dec. 12, 2003. He retired from Overnite Transportation with over 25 years of service and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Paul Stone Sr. Paul Eugene Stone Sr., 84, passed away on Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born April 7, 1919, in Sullivan County to the late A.D. and Daisy Harr Stone, and was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Jeanette St. John Stone. He attended King College and received his master’s degree in education at East Tennessee State University. He was principal for 17 years in the Sullivan County School System at Weaver, Central Heights and Lynn Garden and was principal at Vance Junior High School in Bristol for 16 years. In 1947, he was responsible for starting the Walnut Hill School, which served the community until 1963. He was president of the Sullivan County Education Association, Bristol Tennessee Education Association and the Bristol Tennessee Retired Teachers. In 1970, he was presented the Outstanding Teacher Award by the VFW. He served on the board of directors of the Lynn Garden Optimist Club and the Central Heights and Akard Ruritan clubs. He was a life-long member of the Windsor Avenue Presbyterian Church, serving as Sunday School teacher for over 50 years and was elder emeritus. He was active for several years in the Walnut Hill and Buffalo senior citizens organizations. Surviving are three sons, Paul E. Stone Jr. and his wife Cathy of Scottsville, N.Y., John Stone of Bristol Tennessee and George Stone and his wife Marcia of Bristol Tennessee, and four grandchildren, Thomas Stone and wife Susan of Fairport, N.Y, David Stone and his fiancée Tracey of Lauderdale by the Sea, Fla., and Michael Stone and Katrina Stone, both of Bristol Tennessee. Williams ABINGDON – Mrs. Imogene Presley Williams, age 79, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, in an Abingdon hospital. Born Sept. 16, 1924, in Buchanan County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Elden Frank and Daisy Breeding Presley. A native of the Buchanan County area, she had lived in Abingdon for the past 22 years. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Billy Foster Price, one brother, Curtis Presley, one sister, Mildred Davis, and two infant sisters. Survivors include her husband, Bill Williams of the home; two daughters, Peggy Sullivan of Abingdon and Pat Penley and her husband Jamie of Council, Va.; one son, Michael Price and his wife Carol of Davenport, Va.; one sister, Charlene Price of Norton; four brothers, Muril Presley, Jarrell Presley and Phillip Presley, all of Davenport, and Harvey Presley of Rosedale, Va.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Brother Kenny Fields, Bother Rick Breeding and Rev. James Beavers officiating. Interment will follow in the Breeding Cemetery at Davenport. Pallbearers will be Terry Penley, Freddie Sullivan, Loman Sullivan, Justin Price, Rusty Herndon and Jeff Presley. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Presley, Jerome Presley, Ritchie Presley, Wayne Fields, Kenny Fields and Danny Price. Honaker Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
