Born Nov. 13, 1919, in Rowe, Va., she was a daughter of the late Walter and Ada Hess Jackson. She had spent most of her life in the area and was a member of the Free Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Ruie Jackson, Ulysses Jackson, Marvin Jackson, Herbert Jackson and Jack Jackson, two sisters, Virginia Jackson and Phyllis Dotson, and one great-granddaughter, Krista Snead. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Charlie Breeding of the home; three sons, Harold Dean Breeding and Charlie Breeding Jr., both of the home, and Eddie Breeding and his wife Edna Sue of Lebanon; two daughters, Joyce Mitchell and her husband Harold of Council, Va., and Phyllis Statzer of Hansonville, Va.; two sisters, Bernice Keene and her husband Arvil of Dumfries, Va., and Pearl White of the Villages, Fla.; two grandsons, Chris and Christine Presley and Preston and Crystal Breeding; four granddaughters, Tenita Mitchell, Roberta and Kevin Willis, Tracy Clevinger and Shelley Breeding; two great-grandsons, Lee Willis and Dustin Clevinger; four great-granddaughters, Casey Snead, Sarah and Chris Outen, Krista Willis and Emma Clevinger; three step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, Jaxon Outen, and eight step-great-great-grandchildren also survive. Joseph McKee Colley ABINGDON – Mr. Joseph McKee Colley, 79, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. A native of Saltville, Mr. Colley spent most of his life in Richmond. He moved to Abingdon in 1991. He was a World War II Navy veteran and was a welder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Licata Colley. Survivors include two brothers, Wiley Colley of Marion and Al Colley of Suwanee, Ga., and one sister, Lois Tolbert of Saltville. Depew, age 76, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at Indian Path Hospital. Guy was born July 18, 1927, and was one of 14 children. He was a life-long resident of Sullivan County. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy and Korean conflict. He retired from Meade Corporation after 46 years of service as a maintenance mechanic. He was commander of VFW Post 3382 at the time of his death. His retirement years were spent as an avid golfer and with many activities at the VFW. His friends knew him as G.W., Cozart and "Good Old Guy." He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sarah Emily Shehan Depew and Jessie Paul Depew Sr., two brothers, Jessie Paul (Jack) Depew Jr. and Billie Depew, one sister, Beulah Wilson, and nephew, Jeff Whiteman. She was a homemaker and a member and elder of the Hurley Presbyterian Church, where she was also the editor of the newsletter. Dotson, one daughter, Barbara Lynn Payne, two sons, Garland Dotson and Donald Ray Dotson, one sister, Wilma Vankovich, and one brother, Carl Perry. Betsy was a member of Tyreeanna United Methodist Church and was active as the director of Lay Speaking Ministries of the Lynchburg District of the United Methodist Church.
