Booth ROSEDALE – Lucille L. Booth, 93, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, in the Russell County Medical Center. Born Dec. 27, 1910, in Russell County, a daughter of the late Jack Booth and Esta Breedlove Booth, she was a registered nurse. She had worked at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport and in Ft. Myers, Fla., for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ft. Myers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Pansy Patterson, Blanche Matthews, Edith Stump, Gladys Compton and Jessie Mae Hannah, and two brothers, Raymond Booth and Joe Booth. Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Smith, Rosedale, and Evangeline Shepherd, Milligan College, Tenn., also several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum in Ketron Memorial Gardens, with the Evangelist Dennis Wimmer officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 10-10:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at the funeral home. Bertha Ford KINGSPORT – Anna Bertha Ford, 90, died and left this world to join our Lord and Savior at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at the home of Brigitte and Bobby Godsey. Bertha was born on March 26, 1913, and lived her entire life in Sullivan County. She retired in 1975, after working 25 years at J.C. Penney, downtown Kingsport. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church for many years. She was currently a member of Wheeler United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Ladies Day Circle and the Adult Sunday School Class. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and cooking meals for friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Joseph and Sarah Catherine Lane Cain, James H. Ford, her husband of 49 years, six sisters, Gertrude Mae Cox, Bessie Leona Millsap, Lola Pearl Rowland, Sarah Hazel Cain, Emma Grace Lady and Margaret Mildred Bowery, and one brother, William Martin "Bill" Cain. Her survivors include George Donald Lady, a nephew whom she helped raise after her sister’s death; Brigitte and Bobby Godsey, a great-niece and husband, who were also her caregivers; Jeremiah Sanders, a special great-great nephew, and other cousins, nieces and nephews. Mable Sue Justice WISE – Mable Sue "Susie" Thacker Justice, 64, was received into heaven by the angels of the Lord Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Richman, Tenn. She belonged to the First Baptist Church, Mousie, Ky. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Thacker and Hazel Bolen Thacker Hicks, three brothers, Jackie Thacker, Claude Thacker and Clyde Thacker, a beautiful baby angel daughter, Jennifer Wood, and her former husband, Virgil B. Justice. Susie attended the Hindman High School and was a graduate of Sturivant Business College and Mayo Nursing School. She was part owner and manager of the Inn at Wise in the early 70s, worked 10 years as a pediatric nurse for the Wise Clinic, Wise, and 15 years for Powell Valley Family Physicians in Big Stone Gap. She loved to cook, sing and write poetry. She was known by many as a second mother, always having time to help and love the young people she met, and called mom by many. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in law, Dale Trent Wood and Cindy, Vincent Justice and Debra and Dwayne Justice and Valerie, all of Wise; two grandsons, Joshua Justice and Matthew Justice; four step-grandchildren, Robert Strong, Cassie Creech, Josie Kendrick and Elizabeth Pilkenton; four sisters, Kathleen Rice of Shelton, Wash., Norma Lane of Anderson, Ind., Betty Carter of Wise and Gina Coy of Richman, and many nieces and nephews. She was born July 1, 1932, in Bristol Virginia, a daughter of the late Thomas and Lottie Almany Trivett, and was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area. She was a sewing factory operator with the Gordon Garment Factory, with 38 years of service, and she attended the Norfolk Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Thomas Whitaker, a sister, Shirley Jo Benton, a brother, Sammy Trivett, and a great-granddaughter, Courtney Lester. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, in the Glenwood Mausoleum Chapel, with Rev. Elmer Lester officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.
