Born Nov. 1, 1917, in Floyd County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lura Alderman Little. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George William Booth; one son, John Howard "Johnny" Boothe Sr.; one daughter, Katherine "Kitty" Pruitt; two brothers, Raymond Little and E.B. Little; and one sister, Berita Levacie. Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Rasnick and husband, William B., Linda "Trixie" Horn and Glenna Myers and husband, Dennis, all of Tazewell; two sons, Don Boothe and wife, Jeanne of Indianapolis and William "Bill" Boothe and wife, Billy Faye of Tazewell; daughter-in-law, Margaret Boothe of North Tazewell; son-in-law, Lawrence Pruitt of North Tazewell; four sisters, Betty Livingood of Blue Earth, Minn., Shirley Vernon of Kernersville, N.C., and Vera Powers and Juanita LeGuard, both of Chilhowie; two brothers, Eugene Little and Jimmy Little, both of Chilhowie; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Dick Campbell OLYMPIA, Wash. – Dick Campbell passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at home. Dick was a long-time resident of Thurston County. Dick was born in Saltville, June 6, 1942, to Charles (Sr.) and Margaret Campbell. Dick entered the Air Force in 1966 and upon his discharge from Minot AFB, took up residence in Minot, N.D., where he began his career in civil service. He moved to Washington in 1977 and continued his career at Fort Lewis, retiring February 2003. He is survived by his sister, Doris Ann Price and her husband Buddy, Saltville; his brother, Tony Campbell and his wife Josie of Glade Spring; nephews, Paul Campbell and family and Lance Campbell; and niece, Shelley Campbell, all of Abingdon; his significant other of 15 years, Charlene Busch; children, Brandy and family of Olympia, Shamra and granddaughter Emily of Minot, Karnette Carmon and her husband Cris, and grandson, Jordan of Brooklyn Park, Minn., step- children, Robyn, Maurene, Kurtis, Tim, Kelly; several more grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also his long-time best friends, Donny and Lynett Richeson and Buck and Betty Morgan. Mrs. Cross was born on July 28, 1943, in Washington County, Va., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Cecil King and Elsie Mae Fenner Haworth. She had lived all her life in the Bristol area, and worked in food service. She was a member of the Cleveland Presbyterian Church, and attended the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Cross was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Kenneth W. Cross, one sister, Louise Haworth, and her nephew, Billy Haworth. Mrs. Cross is survived by: one son, Jeffrey W. She was a daughter of the late Orace and Daisy Aliff and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Charlie W. Creed Cox Thomas NORFOLK, Va. – Creed Cox Thomas, U.S. Navy, retired, 82, of the 2400 Block of Heutte Drive, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004. Born in Grant, Va., he was the son of the late Stephen Glenn and Kate Elizabeth Cox Thomas. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1970 as the director of aviation safety with 28 years of service. He entered the Navy in September 1942, after which he became the first naval aviator from Grayson County, Va., and while in the Navy taught students from 10 countries to fly. Capt. Thomas attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg and received an honorary doctorate from Sioux Empire College. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Norfolk, was the Worshipful Master of Norfolk Masonic Lodge No. 1 in 1992, a member of the Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies, Royal Arch Chapter, Khedive Shrine Temple, a member of the Norfolk Host Lions Club, where he was known for collecting over 10,000 pairs of eye glasses for recycling to ship to third-world countries, was "Lion of the Year" in 2002. a member of the Norfolk Sports Club , Retired Officers Association, Combat Pilot Association, Association of Naval Aviation, was past president and a life member of the Naval Reserve Association and had served on the Board of TOWN Foundation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. F.B. (Elizabeth) McConnell. Surviving are his beloved wife of 58 years, Margaret "Marge" Doyle Thomas of Norfolk; two daughters, Linda T. Webster BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – Our beloved father, William J. "Bill" Webster joined his Lord and loving wife of 50 years, Nancy Aliff Webster, after a short illness on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004. Bill was born on Oct. 10, 1931, in Abingdon to the late Hubert Jackson and Leta Sutherland Webster. Our father was also predeceased by his sister, Ann Elizabeth Robinson. After joining the Air Force on Dec. 28, 1950, Bill became a lifelong citizen of Bluefield, where he was an active member of the Bluefield Jaycees, holding positions of vice president and treasurer as well as being a member of the Bland Street United Methodist Church. Bill attended Marshall University for two years and worked for the Bluefield Daily Telegraph and Carnation Company before retiring. He was known as a loving father and grandfather whose greatest passion outside his family was wood carving and painting. Bill is survived by his daughter, Melanie Webster Stultz and son-in-law, Brian G. Stultz of Bluefield; and son, Timothy J. Webster of Las Vegas. He also leaves five grandchildren, Brian Ashton Stultz, Jenny Katherine G. Stultz, Timothy Patrick Webster, Cody Bryant Webster and Zachary Jackson Webster. Funeral services are to be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at Bland Street United Methodist Church commencing at 11 a.m. The Rev. Warren Faulknier will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Princeton, W.Va. Serving as pallbearers will be Timothy Patrick Webster, Brian Ashton Stultz, Travis Lambert, Lon Hopkins, Robert Blair and William Leighton. They will be joined by honorary pallbearers: Don Tabor, Harold Hoback and Del Hollandsworth. The family asks that you join them and their friends on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Mercer Funeral Home and Crematory in Bluefield from 6 to 8 p.m. to celebrate their father’s life. Elmer Vance White LEBANON – The committal service and burial for Elmer Vance White will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon. Those attending should meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Robert Cross, R.C. Chafin, Bill McCarty, Boots Fuller, Jerry Shepard and Tippy Joe Kiser. Brian Shepard will serve as honorary pallbearer. Mr. White, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at his home.
