Walton, 71, Marion Alton Darral Bowers LENOIR, N.C. – Alton Darral Bowers, 64, of Redbud Place, died Feb. 11, 2004, in Frye Regional Medical Center. Born March 28, 1939, in Wise County, Va., he was the son of the late Hobert and Ida Belle Wells Bowers, and a retired staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Glenda (Judy) Bowers of the home; son, Randy Bowers of Hickory, N.C.; daughters, Donna Baker of Granite Falls, N.C., and Dina Mcelyea of Lenoir; brothers, Bernace Bowers of Gate City, Rheabon Bowers of Virginia Beach, Va., and Hobert Jr. Bowers of Big Stone Gap; sisters, Lena Rae Mullins, Appalachia, Anna Jewell Smith, Kentucky, Glenda Fern Lane, Cynthania, Ky., and Violet Bledsoe, Big Stone Gap; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Hobert and Ida Ball Bowers, two brothers, Gerald Bowers and Norman Bowers, and one sister, Arnetta Blevins. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday in Roy A. Mrs. Hite was retired from Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, and was formerly of the Brumley Gap Community. Musick, age 89, a resident of 25424 Wexmouth Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at her residence. She was a native of Washington County, Va., and the daughter of the late Noah and Elizabeth Kingsley. She was the widow of J. Wilson Musick. She was preceded in death by a son, James W. "Mick" Musick Jr. Mrs. Musick was a former employee of the Johnston Memorial Hospital, where she was a nurse’s assistant. O’Quinn HAYSI – Peggy Conaway O’Quinn, age 91, of Route 2, passed away Wednesday night, Feb. 11, 2004, at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Buchanan County to the late Major Rody and Martha Jane O’quinn Conaway, she was the last surviving family member in her generation. In addition to her parents and her siblings, she was preceded by her husband, Corbett O’Quinn, three sons, Vada O’Quinn, Roddy Harlan O’Quinn and Jerry Mack O’Quinn, and a daughter, Darlene Church. Mrs. O’Quinn was a homemaker and was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. She is survived by daughters, Dora Church, Hazel Hackney and husband Cledith, all of Birchleaf, Betsy Cantrell of Pikeville, Ky., Mazie Wood and husband Englin and Helen Rose and husband Roger, all of Haysi, and Kathy Sykes and husband Ronnie of Clintwood; sons, Larry Jones O’Quinn of Sandlick, Jackie Sherman O’Quinn of the home and Teddy Lee O’Quinn and wife Geneva of Rakes Ridge; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren. Born in Roda, Va., to the late Conley W. and Nanny (Justice) Stewart, she was an employee of Liberty Café and Hotel Norton for 35 years, where she made many friends. She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. She was well-known and loved by many. She had been a resident of St. Mary’s Long Term Care for the past 10 years. In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Stewart, George Stewart, E.J. "Turtle" Stewart and Roy Henry Stewart, and by sisters, Kathleen Thomas, Pauline McConnell and Callie Stewart. She had made her home in Bristol most of her life after moving from Limestone, Tenn., and was a former employee of Gordon Garments. She attended the Revival Center Baptist Church. She was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary at Goodson-Kinderhook Volunteer Fire Department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elgin D. Tester, a son, Larry E. Tester, a great- granddaughter and 10 brothers and sisters. Survivors include daughters, Ruth Barker and husband Lewis, Thelma Canter, Dyca Rachel and husband Bobby, all of Bristol Virginia, and Linda Sue Harlow and husband Gary of Blountville; sons, Robert D. Elizabeth C. Trinkle Mrs. Elizabeth C. (Cordie) Trinkle, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at the Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born and raised in the Bluff City area, but spent most of her life in Bristol. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Trinkle. She was the daughter of the late Robert (Bob) and Lilly Cox Baker. She worked at Monroe Calculating Company for a number of years. She was of the Baptist faith. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Polly Mottern, and three brothers, Clarence, Elbert and Bud Baker. She is survived by four daughters, Anna Green and husband Charlie, Betty Cunningham and husband Fred, Lilly Green and husband Lowell and Barbara Thompson and husband Lee; two sons, Edward Allen Trinkle and Don Trinkle and wife Betty; sister, Dorothy Jenkins and husband Clifton; brother, Garnett Baker and wife Billie Jean; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a special pet named Nellie. Mr. Walton was born in Abingdon to the late Sydney V. and Catherine Sullivan Walton and was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Walker, a brother, Everette Walton, and two half brothers, Breece and Arthur Walton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean conflict. He was retired from Brunswick Corporation and was a member of the First Church of God in Marion. Audnia Watson BRISTOL, Tenn. – Audnia Strouth Watson, age 88, of 1023 Pennsylvania Ave., went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, in the Bristol Nursing Home. Mrs. Watson was born on Dec. 31, 1915, in Sullivan County to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Henry and Lucy Weaver Strouth. She was retired from the Bristol Tennessee School System and was a auxiliary member of the Bristol Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Watson was a charter member of the Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church, the president of the Advancer Sunday School Class and a member of WIC. Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Watson Jr. Mrs. Watson is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William E. Watson III and wife Donna of Calabash, N.C., and Richard Allen Watson and wife Sally of Little River, S.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Thea Kay Harlow and husband Charles of Bluff City; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
