Sarah Rubel Kilgore WISE – Sarah Rubel Kilgore, 91, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at the Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Va. Rubel was born on April 11, 1912, to Roscoe and Mary C. Henslee Kilgore. She graduated from Wise High School and Radford State Teachers College. She was employed by the Wise County School System as a teacher for 40 years. Rubel also worked in the commissioner of revenue’s office. Rubel was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. She had also attended Beverly Hills Tabernacle and Glamorgan Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Besides her parents, Rubel was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth, Ruth, Rebecca and Mabel; brothers, Troy, Ray and Lloyd; a nephew, John Daniel Owens; and a niece, Regina Meroth. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Lee Lunsford of Wise and Mrs. Mary M. (Maggie) Isaac of Norton; two nieces, Doris Jean Califf of Alexandria, Va., and Mary Jane Isaac of Wise; also three nieces; and nine nephews. She was born Dec. 5, 1938, in Buchanan County, daughter of the late Willie and Dorothy Newberry. Lois attended the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind for five years and was liked by all. She was a member in the Clinchco Congregation and served as a dedicated witness to Jehovah God for 48 years. She was born in Clinchburg, Va., and had lived all of her life in Washington County, Va. Bly was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working with her flowers, taking care of songbirds and playing bingo. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the ILGW. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Cora McGlocklin; and six brothers, Robert McGlocklin, Preston McGlocklin, Elgin McGlocklin, Gordon McGlocklin, William McGlocklin and Jack McGlocklin.
