Margaret Tieche Pate, 83, St. Paul, Va. Freddie Lee Alderson HONAKER – Mr. Freddie Lee Alderson, age 77, of the Chestnut Ridge section, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, in a Lebanon hospital. Born March 26, 1926, in Lebanon, he was a son of the late Walter Eugene and Mary Magdalene Monk Alderson. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the DAV. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lucille Alderson of the home; one son, Kenneth Alderson of Gaithersburg, Md.; three daughters, Linda Sue Rector of the home, Libby Mueller of Florida and Kelly St. Marie of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; two brothers, Jessie Alderson and Jimmy Alderson, both of Michigan; five grandchildren, Betty Betacourt, Sandy Rector, David Mueller, Matthew St. Marie and Patrick St. Marie Jr., and four great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Kenneth Taylor and Rev. Aaron Feeser officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon. Pallbearers will be Jim Taylor, Jackie Taylor, Chuck Price, Willie Taylor, Leonard Taylor, Barry Taylor, Raymond Taylor and J.W. Taylor. Hillard MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – Elmer A. Hillard, 87, died Feb. 25, 2004, in his home with his wife of 67 years. He was born in Bristol Virginia, had been a resident of greater Richmond since 1956 and retired from Reynolds Metals Co. He is survived by his wife, Nina Pendergrass Hillard; a son, Frank Allen Hillard of Caroline County and his wife Margaret; four grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; a brother, Richard Hillard of Cleveland, Tenn., and two sisters, Dorothy Brooks and Wanda Kimberlin, both of Bristol Virginia. Mr. Hillard was preceded in death by a brother, James Hillard, and two sisters, Pauline Smith and Vena Roberts. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, in the mausoleum chapel at Mountain View Cemetery, Bristol Virginia. Cleo Cox Lee SUGAR GROVE, Va. – Cleo Cox Lee, age 100, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at her home. Survivors and funeral arrangements will be announced later by Seaver-Brown Funeral Service and Crematory. Farley McDavid Sr. GATE CITY – Farley M. McDavid Sr., 96, of the Manville community, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at the residence of his daughter, Elizabeth Peters. Born on April 17, 1907, in Scott County, he was the last surviving child of John Henry and Elizabeth Penley McDavid. Farley was co-founder and lifelong member of Manville Holiness Church. He and Cecil Estepp founded the church in 1952. Preceding him in death were his wife of 73 years, Viola Trivette McDavid in 2001, two sons, Don and Raymond McDavid, and two daughters, Margaret Tipton and Dorothy Doran. Farley is survived by four daughters and their spouses, Nina Bise, Church Hill, Tenn., Elizabeth and Preston Peters, Gate City, Glenna and Kenneth Blankenbecler, Gate City, and Mable and Albee David Calhoun, Kingsport; two sons and spouse, Farley Junior McDavid, Mt. Airy, Md., and Harold and Kathy McDavid, Johnson City; daughters-in-law, Shirley McDavid, Gate City, Lou McDavid, Nickelsville, Va., and son-in-law, Howard Tipton, Gate City; also, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Colonial Funeral Home and any time at the residence of a daughter, Elizabeth Peters. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 8 p.m., with Rayford Pendleton officiating. Harold McDavid will give the eulogy. Music will be provided by Kim and Ronnie Absher. Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Adams Cemetery in the Manville community. Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler McDavid, Shane McDavid, Tim Calhoun, Darrell France, Mark Culbertson, Dwayne Peters, Gerald Tipton and Eric McDavid. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Estepp, Maurice Adams and Jay Christian. The family will meet at 10 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Margaret Moseley BLACKSBURG, Va. – Margaret Lucille Graham Clark Moseley, age 94, formerly of Abingdon, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004. She was born on Jan. 25, 1910, in Johnson County, Tenn. Mrs. Moseley was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the Green Spring Presbyterian Church of Abingdon. She attended Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. She was an active member and officer in the Daughters of the American Revolution Blacks Fort Chapter in Abingdon and Alleghany Chapter in Blacksburg. She was a member of the Virginia Tech Faculty Women’s Club, a devoted Hokie fan and a member of the South Side Garden Club. Mrs. Moseley was an avid gardener and horticulturist and, for most of her adult life, participated both as a judge and floral arranger in numerous flower shows. She was the daughter of the late Oliver O. Graham and Virginia Lowry Graham. She was the widow of Franklin Bruce Clark Sr., and of the Rev. Louis Edward Moseley. She was preceded in death by five sisters, one brother and one stepson. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Martha Clark Preston of Draper, Va., and Mrs. Mary Hope Clark Lee and husband Mike of Johnson City; three sons, Rev. Franklin Bruce Clark Jr. and wife Evelyn of Macon, Ga., John Kelly Clark and wife Patty of Abingdon and Joseph Graham Clark and wife Patricia of Manassas, Va.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McDowell of Finksburg, Md., and Mrs. Dorothy Sanchez of Blacksburg; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Humphrey of Abingdon; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great- grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Lucille Graham Clark Moseley will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Green Spring Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Lawrence Chapin, Rev. PAUL, Va. – Margaret Tieche Pate, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center after a long illness. She was born in Coeburn on May 26, 1920, daughter of the late E.V. and Corrie Bond Tieche. She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was an avid golfer and charter member of Lake Bonaventure Country Club. She was a tireless volunteer at the St. Paul schools, a loyal fan and supporter of the St. Paul Deacons and the Tennessee Volunteers. She was best known for opening her home to all the local youth in the 50s and 60s, especially on Friday nights after the football games. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Bruce, Hagen and Kyle Tieche, and three sisters, Ada Carson, Erma Wolfe and Elizabeth Culbertson. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, C.R. "Dick" Pate of St. Paul; three daughters and their husbands, Becky and John Murrey of St. Paul, Judy and Mike Abbott of Wise and Suzy and Bob Harrison of St. Paul; four grandchildren, Kate Abbott Miller of Knoxville, Meg Murrey Godsey of Whitefish, Mont., Matt Harrison of Charlottesville and Mark Harrison of St. Paul; one great-granddaughter, Emma Harrison; one sister, Ruth Collins of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
