Richard Leonard Kelton, 58, Bluff City Eula Faye Weaver McClain, 77, Blountville Edna Lee Price, 60, Abingdon Howard Francis Rhodes, 78, Marion Sandra Kaye Sanders, 53, Wise Dana Jo Muir Sayers, 48, Richlands Joel Dustin Watson, 32, Bristol Tennessee Elisabeth R. Aaron Elisabeth R. Aaron, 85, died Wednesday, March 10, at Fontainbleu Nursing Center in Bloomington, Ind., following a stroke. She was born Elisabeth Grey Rollins in Gate City, Va., on Sept. 23, 1918, the daughter of Edmonds Droke Rollins and Elisabeth Summers Rollins. When she was very young, the family moved to Bristol Tennessee. She graduated from Tennessee High School and King College in Bristol Tennessee, and from Virginia Intermont College in Bristol Virginia. She married William Spencer Aaron Jr. of Christiansburg, Va., in 1942. They spent the World War II years in Pensacola, Fla., where Mr. Aaron was stationed, and moved to Albemarle County, Va., after the war. Their two daughters were born when the family lived in Keswick, Va. Afterwards, they moved to Charlottesville, where Mrs. Aaron lived for almost 40 years, until her move to Bloomington in 1998. She was employed by the Charlottesville law firm, Richmond and Fishburne, and later in various capacities at the University of Virginia. At the time of her retirement in 1987, she was the business manager for the Virginia Quarterly Review. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Aaron in 1965. Mrs. Aaron’s brother, Edward M. Rollins of Winston-Salem, N.C., and her sister, Ellen S. Mason of Tampa, Fla., both died in 2001. Mrs. Aaron, known as "Diz" to family and friends, found lifelong enjoyment in the many pleasures of her native region: mountain picnics, meandering country roads, bird watching, rustic inns and exploring local history. She followed area sports teams with great interest. Her more personal sports were Scrabble and crossword puzzles. She is survived by her daughters, Elisabeth R. Aaron of Swarthmore, Pa., and Ellen A. Mills of Bloomington; and grandchildren, Elisabeth A. Mills and Stephen C. Mills of Bloomington. Additional survivors are her nephew, George Mason of Tampa, Fla.; and her niece, Kimberly M. Gibbs of Kilmarnock, Va. Arrangements are private. Naomia F. Broderick BRISTOL, Va. – Naomia Fife Broderick, age 80, of 608 East Valley Drive, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 14, 2004, at her residence. Mrs. Broderick was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Artrip, Va., to the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Leona Fife. She has lived in the Bristol area for the past 30 years of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, George V. Broderick. Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Broderick Lanza of New York City and Debra Broderick Rose and husband Warren of Bristol Virginia; one son, Ronald Thomas Broderick and wife Sheila of Cary, N.C.; one sister, Irene Ferguson of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Chumney was born in Bristol Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Robert E. Comerford and Kathleen Huff Comerford. She was a homemaker, former teacher and was a member of Bayside Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, Richard D. Chumney; one daughter, Karlee C. Thomson and husband Kevin D. Thomson of Virginia Beach; two sons, Kendall J. Chumney of Virginia Beach and R. Kevin Chumney and wife Nancy A. Chumney of Moorestown, N.J.; a brother, Robert E. Hugh Lyle Jones LAFAYETTE, Ga. – Hugh Lyle Jones, age 80, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004. Mr. Jones was a graduate of Bristol Tennessee High School and the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta and served as master sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Lafayette in 1956 and worked as a textile engineer with E. T. Barwick Industries and other carpet mills in Georgia until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Myrtle Boy Jones. Surviving are his wife, Aleene O’Dell Jones of Lafayette; two daughters, Rebecca Jones Brock of Ringgold, Ga., and Candace A. Kelton BLUFF CITY – Richard Leonard Kelton, age 58, of 272 Hill Top Circle, passed away Monday, March 15, 2004, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mr. Kelton was born on Sept. 20, 1945, in Jackson Heights, N.Y., to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Barbara Porter Kelton. Mr. Kelton was a veteran, having served and retired from the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post 6975 and was a member of the Kettlefoot Rod and Gun Club, Inc. Mr. Kelton is survived by: his wife of 30 years, Barbara Kelton; his father and mother, Raymond and Barbara Kelton; one son, William L. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tenn. Born on May 4, 1925, he was the son of the late George F. Rhodes and Alma Hornbaker Gaines. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, was a life member of Marion VFW Post 4667, the American Legion and the DAV. He was employed as a project engineer with Brunswick Corporation for 32 years, retiring in 1992, and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Everhart Houck Rhodes in 1970, and a son, Ronald Rhodes. Surviving are his wife, Janet Losey Rhodes of Marion; four sons, William Eric Rhodes of Marion. She was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Wednesday night teacher and secretary-treasurer of the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, and was also very active in the Stevens Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard "Blue" Thompson; and one brother, Rondell "Pooch" Thompson. She was born in Raven, Va., and was a daughter of Bobby Joe and Nell Ball Muir of Raven. She was a life-long resident of the Raven and Richlands areas, was a 1974 graduate of Richlands High School, and was a licensed practical nurse for 29 years. Dana was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a healing touch and was loved by everyone who knew her.
