He worked as a business management consultant in Denver, and his passion was golfing. He is survived by his wife, Lee Saltonstall Barnitt; his three sons, Mark Barnitt and his wife Diane and Stephen Barnitt, all of Minnesota, and John Barnitt and his wife Maureen of Genoa, Nev.; a sister, Joan Bjorkfelt and her husband Bert of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren; a niece and a nephew. He taught coaching football, baseball and basketball at Pocahontas High School, was supervisor and assistant superintendent of Russell County, Va., Schools, and was principal of Highland View Elementary, Virginia Middle School and Virginia High School in Bristol Virginia. In 1967, he came to Longwood University as professor of education, where he taught graduate school, and retired after over 30 years of service. Mae White WHITEWOOD, Va. – Mrs. Mae Louise Glick White, age 79, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2004, at her home following a lengthy illness. Born in Athens, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Russell Newman and Kate Hall Glick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Waldon White, and one daughter, Wanda Maggard. She is survived by two sons, Roger Lee White and wife Patricia of Jewell Ridge, Va., and Waldon White Jr. and wife Donna of Anderson, S.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Guy (Delores) Shuck of Talbott, Tenn., Lorene Roush of Richmond and Mrs. Curtis (Linda) White of Whitewood; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 21, 2004, in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, with Rev. Joe Gross and Rev. John Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery at White Mountain, Va. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerenda Keen, Zealphie Hackworth, Marie Keen, Dennis Keen, Paul Cole, Laymon Mitchell and Buford Mitchell. Frances Marie Wise ABINGDON – Mrs. Frances Marie Wise, age 67, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2004, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital. She attended the Barnes Chapel Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard Carlos Wise, her parents, Sandoe and Maxie Mitchell Kennedy Sr., and one brother, Walter Kennedy. Survivors include three sons and their wives, Jerry and Eun Jung Wise, Panama City, Fla., Larry and Wanda Wise, Mendota, Va., and David and Linda Wise, Bristol Virginia; two daughters, Judy and David Love, Bristol Virginia, and Carolyn Wise, Abingdon; three brothers, Sandoe Kennedy Jr., Bristol, and Joe Kennedy and Roger Kennedy, both of Abingdon; four sisters, Lucille Duncan, Bristol Virginia, Edna Hobbs, Blountville, and Peggy Thomas and Leona Lebo, both of Abingdon; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, March 19, 2004, at 8 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Roger Hearl and Brother Randy Robbins officiating. Committal graveside service will be conducted Saturday, March 20, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the Knollkreg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jamie Wise, Michael Clawson, Rick White, Larry Clawson, Stephen Wise, Justin Reynolds, Brian Wise and Brad Salyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Fields, Chad Stacy, Jeff Wise, Austin Atwell, the men of Barnes Chapel Church and friends from the Nutrition Center.
