She was a lifelong resident of Scott County, Va. Mae was a faithful member of Gardner’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rhea Anderson and Elsie Robertie Baker Anderson, and one infant sister. Paul Rufus Ashley BRISTOL, Va. – Paul Rufus Ashley, 78, of 1326 Massachusetts Ave., went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 22, 2004. He was the son of the late Tom and Tina Ashley, and also preceded in death by his brothers, Lilard Ashley, Millard Ashley and Dave Ashley. Mr. Ashley was a member of Victory Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran who served in The Battle of The Bulge. He was a former member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 40 of Bristol Virginia. He had worked for several years at Sears, Bristol Steel and Beecham Laboratories before retiring. Crabtree MEADOWVIEW – Thomas Frederick Crabtree, 75, died Monday, March 22, 2004, at his home in Meadowview. Born in Saltville, he lived his entire life in the Saltville and Meadowview areas. He was the son of the late Joseph and Victoria Farris Crabtree. His beloved wife of 56 years, Ruby Price Crabtree, preceded him in death by 11 days. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Sylvester Crabtree, of Meadowview; and one sister, Mabel Clear (husband, Guy), of Saltville. He is survived by two sons, Jamie L. Crabtree (wife, Elizabeth) of Chester, Va., and Thomas W. Crabtree (wife, Pamela, and children, Winona Little and Shawn Little) of Greeneville, Tenn.; one daughter, Dr. Jo Ann Chenell (husband, Paul) of Channahon, Ill.; two grandsons, Eric A. Bower II (wife, Jennifer) of Knoxville and Jamison Travis Crabtree of Richmond. He is also survived by one brother, Dr. J. F. She was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College and East Tennessee State University. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Belle-Walsh Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and Woodmen of the World.
