Alvin was born at Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Nov. 30, 1956, and was a native of Glade Spring. His most precious gift that he leaves behind is his love for drawing and his collection of watercolors and art work and his love for animals, especially his dog Max. He was preceded in death by his mother, Regina F. Blevins, his two nephews, Timothy Mutter and Jamie Jackson. Survivors: his father and stepmother, Everette and Alice Blevins of Rural Retreat, Va.; three brothers, Vance Mutter and Bobby Blevins of Salem and Charles Blevins of Tallahassee, Fla.; three sisters, Nancy Mutter of Vinton, Va., Brenda "Sissy" Brown and husband, Joseph of Roanoke and Ann Puckett of Tallahassee; one niece, Michelle Meldick; two nephews, B.J. Meade and Noah Brown; and one great-nephew, Nathen Meldick. Dewey Hodge JOHNSON CITY – Dewey "Bud" Hodge, 69, 4110 Englewood West, died Monday, April 12, 2004, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Hodge was a native of Sullivan County and had lived in Johnson City since 1970. He was a son of the late Dewey William and Lassie Morrell Hodge and was preceded in death by one son, Gary Hodge. He was a member of John Ratliff Post 164 of the American Legion, a member of the Senior Citizens Bowling League and a retired employee of Jewell Smokeless Coal Corporation.
