She was born on April 13, 1916, in Washington County, Va., daughter of the late Frank and Cora Henderson Cuddy. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a homemaker and attended Tumbling Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Aistrop was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Aistrop, infant son, Harry William Aistrop Jr., and two sisters, Lorene C. Johnson and Dorothy C. Duff. She is survived by nieces, Violet D. Hayes, Roanoke, and Nellie J. Boardwine, Maryland; nephews, Melvin G. Duff and wife Edith, Atlanta, Ralph Johnson and wife Merkia, Meadowview, and Loyd Neal Duff and wife Nancy, Atlanta. Ms. Glenn was greatly loved and will be fondly remembered by David and Ashley Jones. Funeral services for Mrs. Aistrop will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2004, in the D.R. Jessie Baker GATE CITY – Jessie (Granny) (Ma) Baker, 88, of Route 4, crossed the threshold into eternal peace on Friday, May 7, 2004, at her residence. Born in Scott County on March 6, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Flem and Brownie Smith Hensley. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Baker was a member of Hiltons Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray H. Baker, sisters, Delphia Hensley, Blanche Weatherly, Charmie McMurray, Roxie Ketron and Velma Ketron, and brothers, Howard Hensley and Jack Hensley. Galliher, of Cartpath Rd., died Friday, May 7, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Galliher was born Feb. 27, 1905, in Ashe County, to Hamilton Thomas and Lula Toliver Turner. Eula Gilbert RICHLANDS – Mrs. Eula Virginia French Gilbert, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 7, 2004, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Richlands and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee "Bud" and Maggie Cooper French, both Tazewell County natives. She was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area and was of the Pentecostal faith. She was a loving lady, wife, mother and friend. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Haze Gilbert in 1973, one sister, Beulah Bragg, and eight brothers, Jennings, Greever, Johnnie, Leon, Robert, Claude, Ernest and Lloyd French. Survivors are one daughter, Barbara A. Harr, 87, a three-year resident of New Philadelphia, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Friday, May 7, 2004, at New Dawn Retirement Community in Dover. Born Sept. 13, 1916, in Washington County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Elija and Mary Melvina (Droke) King. After graduating from high school, Theresa continued her formal education at the Business College in Bristol Tennessee. Prior to retirement, she worked for both the Volunteer State Life Insurance Company and Tennessee Electric Company as a secretary. For more than 30 years, Theresa was a devout member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Largo, Fla. There, she was active in the sewing circle and Bible studies. After moving to Ohio with her daughter and son-in-law, she became a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia. Most importantly, Theresa was a mother, grandmother and friend. She taught many invaluable lessons to those she loved, but most importantly, she taught the importance of finding something good in every person. Her wisdom and selflessness will long be remembered in the hearts of those she touched. Theresa will be missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Larry Jones of New Philadelphia; six grandchildren, Tracey (Bryan) Newman of Pickerington, Ohio, Derek (Theresa) Jones of Dunedin, Fla., Robert (Karen) Lawson of Herndon, Va., Amy Lawson of Springfield, Va., David (Susie) Lawson of Virginia Beach, Va., and Linda (Chris) Williams of Bristow, Va.; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary King, and numerous nieces and nephews. Hayes, age 82, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol Tennessee. He was a native of Konnarock and was a son of the late Harvey and Rosa Stamper Hayes. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlotte Louise Hayes, who passed away in 1987, three brothers, Eli Hagi, Edgar Lee Hayes and James Warren Hayes, and one sister, Lucille Rupard. Mr. Hayes was retired from RC Herzig, where he was a heavy equipment operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Konnarock Seventh-day Adventist Church. He is survived by two sons, Gary Ben Hayes of Konnarock and Doug Hayes of Front Royal, Va.; one sister, Helena Adams of Konnarock; two granddaughters; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Howison ROANOKE – Juanita Carmack Howison, formerly of McLean, Va., widow of Claude Frederick Howison, died on May 7, 2004. Mrs. Howison was born in Washington County, Va., near Bristol Virginia. She was educated at James Madison University, later studied art at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C., and completed advanced studies at the University of Virginia and George Washington University. She retired as an educator in the field of remedial reading and taught at many area Washington, D.C., schools, including the Potomac School, McLean, Fort Myer Elementary School, Arlington, and Markham School, Fort Belvoir, Va. Mrs. Howison is listed in "Who’s Who of American Women" and "Two Thousand American Women of Achievement." During her lifetime, she was nationally recognized for her outstanding body of work in the mediums of oil, pastels, watercolor and enamels, as well as her work in helping to develop the arts culture in twentieth century America. She served as the Virginia State chairwoman and later as president of the 6,000-member National League of American Pen Women during the late 1980s. She continued to serve on the National Art Board for many years thereafter. She was an active member of the Arts Club of Washington, D.C., the American Association of University Women, the McLean Women’s Club, the Fairfax Council of the Arts, the National Enamelist Guild and Delta Kappa Gamma. In the early 1990s, Mrs. Howison retired to the Roanoke Valley and moved to the Brandon Oaks Community. She founded a branch of the National League of American Pen Women and was active in the Cotillion Club and the Roanoke Woman’s Club. Mrs. Howison was predeceased by her parents, Alexander Watson Carmack and Lillie Craig Carmack, her sister, Estelle B. Carmack, and her brother, A. Shelburne Carmack. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, H. Ford and Jacquelyn T. Camack of Roanoke; four nieces, Jane Carmack Koontz of Harrisonburg, Va., Connie Carmack Talbott of Blacksburg, Va., Patricia Carmack Hubard of Roanoke and Leigh Carmack Mundy of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and one nephew, Dr. John Ford Carmack of Forest, Va. She is also survived by her good friend and companion, Larry Hays of Roanoke. Zeke Jenkins MEADOWVIEW – Mr. Zeke Jenkins, 96, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. A native of Carter County, Va., Mr. Jenkins was the son of the late Robert and Edna Oliver Jenkins. He was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Oliver Jenkins. McKee Sr. Dr. David Smyth McKee Sr. died Saturday, May 8, 2004, following an illness. Dr. McKee, born in Bristol Virginia in 1921, had resided and practiced medicine in Atlanta for 50 years. The son of David Tilson McKee and Mary Isabelle Kelly McKee, Dr. McKee was descended from the Smyth and Kelly families, who settled in Abingdon and Smyth County region in the 1700s. He graduated from Emory & Henry College in 1942 and received his M.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1945, after which he served an internship at that hospital. Dr. McKee served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and subsequently completed a residency in pediatrics at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, serving as chief resident in pediatrics. A Fellow of the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. McKee was a member of the Hanner, Hoppe and McKee practice in Buckhead for many years and, at the time of his death, was the principal of McKee Pediatrics in Marietta. Dr. McKee is survived by his widow, Alexandra McAuliffe McKee of Marietta; by his children, Mary Kathryn McKee Smith and her husband Charles Smith of Jacksonville, Fla., Dr. David Smyth McKee Jr. and his wife Mary Evelyn Bromberg McKee of Birmingham and Ann McKee Plumer and her husband William G. Tillery, 79, died Friday, May 7, 2004, at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick. He was born in Pinelevel, Ala., and raised in Alabama until he joined the military and moved around a lot, retiring in Georgia, and moving to Brick 30 years ago. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant. Mr. Tillery was the co-owner of Point Pleasant Floor Coving, Point Pleasant, N.J., retiring in 1990, then he worked for the Forge Pond County Golf Course in Brick. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, "Tilly," nee Hainzl Tillery. Surviving are a son, Raimund of Abingdon; a daughter, Linda Setaro of Brick; two brothers, Sport Tillery of Alabama and J.E.
