Born March 28, 1962, in Drill, Va., she was a daughter of the late Stacy Laura Street. She was a lifelong resident of the area. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Jo Street, and one brother, James Street. Survivors include five sisters, Wanda Owens, Venita (Nickie) Lowe and Donna Street, all of Honaker, Mrs. Gene (Phyllis) McConnell of Bluff City and Mrs. Monette (Barbara) Hess of Blackford, Va.; three brothers, Jerry Street of Tazewell, Va., and Larry Street and Johnny Street, both of Honaker; a very special companion puppy, Casey, and several nieces and nephews also survive. "Mitzi" Rutherford went to be with her Lord at NHC Healthcare, Bristol Virginia, on Sunday May 9, 2004. She was a native of Washington County, Va., and daughter of the late John C. and Mary Etheleen Haworth Mumpower. She grew up in Bristol, but lived in Johnson City approximately 30 years. She was former employee of Kings Department Store in Johnson City, a member of Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of Henly Gleaners Sunday School Class. She lived her life to the fullest. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin W. Rutherford, sisters, Audrey Hamrick, Lillian Lowe, Thelma Tommie Boyd, Beulah "Boots" Jessee and Edith Mumpower, and brother, John "Jack" Mumpower Jr. She is survived by a sister, Norma "Polly" Jackson Dickson; brother-in-law, Willard "Jack" Dickson, and sister-in-law, Drucella Mumpower. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Malcolm Wansley officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m., prior to time of service Tuesday. Smith, 87 years of age, formerly of Pike County, Ky., passed away Friday, May 7, 2004, in the Fish Memorial Hospital, Orange City, following an extended illness. Born in Pike County, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Nora Pugh Skeens. She lived in Pike County several years prior to moving to Ohio, where she was a retired employee of Campbell Soup Company, with 20 years of service, and attended the First Baptist Church, Napoleon, Ohio. At the time of her death, she was residing with her daughter and son-in-law, Clifford and Martha J. Cantrell, Orange City. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Smith in 1985. She was also preceded in death by one son, Homer Smith, four sisters, Alice Phillips, Ocie Spears, Bessie Sullivan and Nell Dotson, and four brothers, Von, Lon, Vernon and Roy Skeens. She is survived by one daughter, Martha J. and husband Clifford Cantrell, Orange City; two sisters, Della Mallett, Feds Creek, Ky., and June Justice, Rex, Ga., and two brothers, Freelin Skeens, Grundy, and Lewis (Ross) Skeens, Napoleon. She is also survived by five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Gladys P. Vanover Sr., 70, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2004, at his home, with his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a truck driver and operator for C.W. Wright Construction Co. for several years, a peacetime veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Vanover and Edna Farmer Vanover, two brothers, Jesses and Paul Kenneth, and one infant sister, Janice Faye. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Arbutus Tompkins Vanover; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and Tom Motley of Rockingham, N.C., and Patricia and Paul Walsh of Rhoadesville; one son and daughter-in-law, Boyd Lee Jr. and Deidrelynn Vanover of Fredericksburg, Va.; loving grandfather of six grandchildren, Tommy Motley, Greg Motley, Amanda Walsh, Tracy Walsh, Morgan Vanover and Marissa Vanover; four brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Isla Vanover of Grant’s Pass, Ore., Virgil Vanover of Orange, Va., Guy E. and Shirlene Vanover of Orange and Gene E. Vanover of Centreville, Va.; one sister, Georgia Mae Shanholtz of Orange; also several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services for Boyd L.
