Walter Gaines Oxendine, 89, Castlewood Leonard Radford Taylor Sr., 81, Nickelsville, Va. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Katherine Collins RICHLANDS – Mrs. Katherine Wilson Osborne Collins, age 77, passed away Friday, May 28, 2004, in a Tazewell hospital following a long illness. Born in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Annie Clifton Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Otis Osborne, her second husband, James Armistead Collins Sr., one stepson, J.A. Collins Jr., two sisters, Mollie Wilson and Martha Shelton, and seven brothers, Otis, Albert, Jess, Sherman, Fred, Carl and John Wilson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation. Mrs. Collins is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Annie Phillips of Alexandria, Va.; one son, Randall Osborne of Mantua, Ohio; three stepdaughters, Edith Terdik of Abbs Valley, Va., Doris Perkins of Chesterfield, Va., and Marge Adams of Hopewell, Va., and several nieces and nephews also survive. Joan Meade Marshall PRINCE GEORGE, Va. – Joan "Joann" Meade Marshall, 56, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell, Va. She was born in Scott County, Va., on July 2, 1947, and was the daughter of the late Sam Meade and Lona McConnell Meade. She graduated from Nickelsville High School in 1965 and was a homemaker. Mrs. Marshall was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene "Gene" Marshall, on Dec. 7, 2001. Surviving are her daughter, Elizabeth Kreemer, Hopewell; son, Michael Marshall, Richmond; grandchildren, Brian and Brandon Kreemer; sister, Shirley Culbertson, Nickelsville, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Elizabeth Lowe, Eliza Fuller, Pauline Flack, Juanita Walker, Dorothy Dalton and Una Mae "Bill" Hicks. He is survived by three sisters, Grace Oxendine of Lebanon, Frances Johnson of Parisburg, Pa., and Nancy Ryan of Johnson City; one brother, James Oxendine of Bristol Virginia; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great- nephews. Leonard Taylor Sr. NICKELSVILLE, Va. – Leonard Radford "Peanut" Taylor Sr., 81, of Route 2, Taylor Town community, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004, at his residence. He was born in Russell County, Va., on July 9, 1922, and was the son of the late Robert T. Taylor and Mary Rasnick Taylor. He was retired from Little & Adams Construction as a railroad worker. Mr. Taylor was a member of Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church and was the oldest deacon of the church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Wilder, brothers, Arthur Taylor and Ellis Taylor, and stepmother, Bertie Taylor. Surviving are his wife, Cleo Easterling Taylor of the home; daughter, Mary Jane Taylor, Church Hill, Tenn.; sons, Leonard "Bugs" Taylor Jr. and wife Lynne, Robert Taylor and wife Jeanette and Jimmy Taylor and wife Janice, all of Nickelsville; grandchildren, Mark Hilton, Amy Darnell, Tanya Hale, Brandi Yates, Steven Taylor and Michael Taylor; great-grandchild, Robbie Darnell; half- brother, Paul Taylor, Nickelsville, and several nieces and nephews.
