He was self-employed as Baldwin Contracting and Siding Company. Mr. Baldwin was preceded in death by his first wife, Della J. Bowman Baldwin in 2001. Davis LEBANON – Margaret Elizabeth "Libby" Davis, 80, passed away Friday, June 4, 2004, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. Born May 9, 1924, in Jellico, Tenn., a daughter of the late James Henry Cantrell and the late Sue Martin Cantrell, she was the wife of the late Charles L. "Jack" Davis Sr. She was a member of the Jellico Baptist Church. Lynessa Jones HONAKER – Mrs. Lynessa Raechelle Crockett Jones, age 25, passed away Friday, June 4, 2004, at her home. Born June 7, 1978, in Richlands, she was a daughter of Sherri Crockett Miller of Honaker and the late James Michael Miller. She had spent most of her life in the area and was a 1996 graduate of Honaker High School. She was a certified nursing assistant and cosmetologist. She attended the Calvary Lighthouse Ministries in Honaker. In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, Anthony Jones of Honaker; one daughter, Alexys Leigh Jones of Honaker; one son, Logyn Blake Crockett of Honaker; one brother, T.C. Matney Jr. John W. Matney Jr., 85 years of age, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2004, in Spring Lake Heights, N.J. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late John W. Matney and Lydia Deskins Matney. He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired loans collection manager for the First National Bank of New Jersey. Mr. Matney was preceded in death by his wife, Kaye Matney, four brothers, Stuart J. Matney, Eugene H. Matney, E.H. Martha Owens OAKWOOD, Va. – Mrs. Martha Ellen Adams Owens, age 91, passed away Friday, June 4, 2004, in Buchanan General Hospital at Grundy, following a short illness. Born May 31, 1913, at Little Cowen in Letcher County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Hannah Elizabeth Caudill Adams. She and her husband Tom, along with their four oldest children, moved to Buchanan County in 1937. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Mrs. Owens worked as postmistress and operator of a small grocery store at Janey for many years. She was awarded a lifetime PTA membership for her work in support of the Garden Schools and was well-known throughout the community for her artistic talents. She was a charter and organizing member of the Levisa River Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of the Little Martha Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Tom Owens; brothers, Boyd, Kirtley, Moses, Alfred and Junior Adams; sisters, Mary Wright, Bonnie Dempsey and Vanessa Davis; a son, Tommy Joe Owens; a daughter, Vanessa Looney; son-in-law, Charles Bentley; grandson, Russell Strunk, and great-granddaughter, Ashley Pardo. Zane Sutherland BLOUNTVILLE – Ralph Zane Sutherland, 71, went to be with the Lord late Friday, June 4, 2004, at his residence. He was born on March 8, 1933, in Clinchfield, Va., and born again on Dec. 24, 1960. He was pastor of Valley View Baptist Church for over 29 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis C. Sutherland and Hester Chaffin Sutherland, and four brothers, Alton Sutherland, Glenn Grizzle, Thurman Sutherland and Ray Sutherland. She was born July 31, 1920, the daughter of Preston Taulby Wallace and Nancy Cantrell Wallace. She was one of 14 children. Her husband of 56 years, Autta, and her son, Charles, sisters, Belva Fields, Kelsie Willis, Iowa Hylton and Pebbles Mullins, and brothers, Roy, Claude, Finden and C.L., preceded her in death. Survivors include her four brothers, Fitchue, Bradley, Clarida and Virgil Wallace; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Willis; grandchildren and their spouses, Kim and Craig Parsons and Chuck and Jill Willis. Ival had two great-granddaughters, Kacey and Hailey; a brother-in-law, Denver Willis and his wife Joyce, and several nieces and nephews also survive her.
