Jessie Paul Bare BLUFF CITY – Jessie Paul Bare, 76, 269 Lakeview Drive, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 14, 2004, at his residence. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Roby and Blanche VanDeventer Bare. Mr. Bare was a member of Bunker Hill Christian Church and a World War II Navy veteran. He retired from Raytheon after 26 years of service and was also the owner of Pardner’s Bar-B-Que for 21 years. He was preceded in death by four brothers, George D. Bare, Burl D. Bare, Jack Bare and William Bare, and one sister, Virginia McCloud. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Pansy Smith Bare of the home; one daughter, Tina Bare Gentry and her husband J.C, Bluff City; one grandson, Kevin S. Bare and his wife Jamie, Piney Flats; two granddaughters, Carrie E. Bare, Bluff City, and Keyla M. Bare, Piney Flats; two great-grandsons, Kaleb S. Bare and Kaden S. Bare, both of Piney Flats; three step-grandchildren and one step- great-grandson, all of Rutledge, Tenn.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Larnce and Reva Bare, Bluff City, Buster and Phyllis Bare, Johnson City, and Bobby and Cathy Bare, Bluff City; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty Thomas, Bluff City, Ruth and Gordon Humphrey, Bluff City, Lois Dishner, Bluff City, Sue Harkleroad, Elizabethton, and Roxie and Johnny Williams, Blountville; three sisters-in-law, Wanda Bare, Ann Bare and Joyce Bare, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Born in Tazewell County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert Henry and Rhoda Octave Stevenson Joyce. She was a member of the Richlands Tabernacle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Reese Boyd, children, Billy Creed Boyd, Leland Charles Boyd, Loretta Geneva Boyd and Harold Stanley Boyd, brothers, Charlie Joyce, Burley Joyce, Emory Joyce, Howard Joyce and Hufford Joyce, and sisters, Nannie Horn and Beulah Whitt. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the USS Lexington and received the Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Medal and eight Stars, as well as the Phillipine Liberation Medal. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Mae Minton Ferguson, a sister, Dorothy Ross, four brothers, Delton, Pete, Winfred and Buddy, and a grandson, David Bellamy. She was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area and was a lifetime member of the Free Pentecostal Holiness Church at Murray Hollow, near Jewell Ridge, Va., where she served as a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. As a member of the U.S. Army during World War II, he fought in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge and helped liberate Mathauson Concentration Camp. He retired after 45 years with Celenase Corporation. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Pearsburg, Va., and the Giles County Life Saving Crew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Helen Wagner Guynn. Mauney Virginia "Gee" Templeton Mauney, 79, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at NHC of Bristol, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Bristol, the daughter of the late D.P. and Kathleen Hunter Templeton, and was a graduate of Bristol Tennessee High School and Virginia Intermont College. She enjoyed several years of playing girls’ basketball. She was employed as an accountant at Bristol Tennessee Electric System for 25 years, prior to moving to Jacksonville, Fla. While living in Jacksonville, she worked for 15 years as an accounting supervisor with the Florida State Health Department. She returned to Bristol about seven years ago. She attended First Presbyterian and Rosemont Presbyterian Churches in Bristol. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Mauney O’Regan of Jacksonville; her son, Hugh C. Mauney Jr. and his wife Molly of Bristol; her brother, Bill Templeton and his wife Pauline of Bristol; a sister-in-law, Peggy Harris Templeton of Kingsport; five grandchildren, David Mauney and Maxwell Mauney, both of Bristol, and Jason Adair, Matthew O’Regan and Courtney O’Regan, all of Jacksonville; four great-grandchildren, Kacey, Kaley, Bailey and Brennan; numerous nieces and nephews and her very special caregiver, Mae Duff. She had made her home in the Whitewood area before moving to Florida 42 years ago and was a member of the Flatwood Church of Christ.
