John Allen Cox KINGSPORT – John Allen Cox, age 60, of Blountville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 12, 2004. Mr. Cox was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. He was a member of Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church. Mr. Cox, owner of John Cox Auto Repair, retired after 27 years of owning his own business. He was a member of the Bristol Forge at Rocky Mount. He loved woodworking, blacksmithing and helping out at church. Preceding Mr. Cox in death are his father, Perry Cox, and an infant brother. Born Jan. 8, 1996, in Richlands, he was a son of Karen Lynn Joyce of the home. He was a lifelong resident of the area and had just finished second grade at Givens Elementary School. He enjoyed outdoor activities, such as hunting and riding his ATV and many sports. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Estil L. Joyce, and great- grandfather, Raymond C. Dye. Vernon Lowe TAYLORS VALLEY, Va. – Vernon Lowe, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at his residence. He was a native of Washington County, Va., and had lived most of his life in Taylors Valley. He retired from Emory & Henry College in 1988, after 22 years of service and was a farmer. Mr. Lowe was a member of the Taylors Valley Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth G. Born March 21, 1916, in Russell County, Va., he was a son of the late William and Eva Ball Reynolds. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a retired coal miner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josie Reynolds, two sisters, Edna Brewer and Effie Gross and two brothers, Reece Reynolds and Clinton Reynolds. Christine Robinson ABINGDON – Christine Miller Robinson, 60, went to be with the Lord in Heaven July 12, 2004. She passed away at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville after a brief illness. Christine was born on Aug. 24, 1943, and grew up in Richlands. She was the daughter of Rosalie Wallace Miller and the late Ralph E. Miller of Richlands. Mrs. Robinson was a graduate of Radford University and a long-time member of Gladeville Presbyterian Church in Wise. She was the loving wife of 40 years of Joseph A. "Sandy" Robinson Jr., formerly of Wise. Also left behind are a son, Barry Robinson and wife Gina; and daughter, Angie Yates and husband Dean. She was the dear grandmother of Heather and Dylan Robinson and Hunter and Harley Yates. "Grammy" cared so much about her precious grandchildren. She was also an avid flower and bird lover. She dearly loved her cat, Jim "Bear", who passed away several years ago on an Easter Sunday.
