Mrs. Edwards had been a resident of the Ridgecrest Manor, Duffield, Va., and was a Protestant. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Russell Hughes of Lebanon, and Howard Edwards of Dryden, her parents, Dewey and Artie Kegley Weeks, and a sister, Margie Roark. Vesta Tignor Hawkins BRISTOL, Va. – Vesta Tignor Hawkins, age 87, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, in Wellmont Hospice House. Born Aug. 7, 1916, in Russell County, a daughter of the late Vince and Virgie Hawkins Tignor, she was the wife of the late Kyle Hawkins. She had lived in Bristol the past 40 years and was a member of the Euclid Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, V.W. Tignor. Survivors include two daughters, May Margaret Ennis and husband Frank, Clanton, Ala., and Patricia Jessee and husband Roger of Virginia Beach, Va.; one son, Ron Hawkins, Jonesborough, Tenn.; three grandsons; two great- grandsons; and one sister, Verna Tignor, Lebanon. The graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004, in the Russell Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Darrell Fletcher officiating. Oley Kelly Jr. KINGSPORT – Oley Kelly Jr. passed away at 5:10 p.m. Sunday afternoon, July 18, 2004, at Brookhaven Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Jenkins, Ky. He was the son of the late Oley Kelly Sr. and Vadney E. Fleming Kelly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Baker Kelly, stepson, Denver R. Herron, eight brothers, Arnold Kelly, Orbie Kelly, Okey Kelly, Tom Kelly, Calvin Kelly, Clyde Kelly, Frank E. Kelly, and Douglas Kelly, one step-granddaughter, Jerri Roberts, one step-grandson, Gregory Allen Tolliver, and one step-great-grandson, Derrick Christian. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Kelly was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army First Infantry Division in Germany, as part of the "Greatest Generation." He was proud of his service to his country. He retired after many years as owner/operator of Kelly’s Plumbing and Heating Company in Wise. He enjoyed traveling the United States and collecting and studying American antiques. Surviving are his loving wife, best friend, partner and constant companion, Stella of the home; his son, Denny W. Kelly and wife, Kathy, Spotsylvania, Va.; stepdaughter, Lucille M. Roberts, Kingsport; stepdaughter-in-law, Susan Herron, Kingsport; sister, Della Kelly Feathers, Roswell, Ga.; brother, Dallas Kelly, and wife, Sharon, Mooresburg, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shawn Kelly Hagy, Abingdon, Melanie Dawn Kelly, Adam Monroe Kelly and Denny Kelly Jr., all of Spotsylvania; step-grandchildren, Terri Christian, Denise Herron, Mark Tolliver, Jeremy Roberts, Jason Roberts and Conner Ray Herron, all of Kingsport; three great- grandsons; one step-great-grandson; four step-great-granddaughters; and one step-great-great-granddaughter.
