He was born in Caretta, W.Va., a son of the late Henry S. and Mildred Marie Crigger Bradley. He moved to Bristol in 1954, was a graduate of Bluff City High School and a member of Gateway Baptist Church. He retired from the Sullivan County Sheriff?s Department, after 35 years of service, and was an avid golfer. Survivors include his daughter, Whitney Ross and her husband, Gene, of Blountville; his granddaughter, Kayla Ross; his brother, Stuart Bradley of LaFollette, Tenn.; a niece, Kelly B. Wells; a nephew, Stuart Bradley Jr.; and four grand-nephews and grand-nieces. He was born Oct. 1, 1924, in Bluff City, a son of the late William Preston and Nellie Green Nichols. He was a lifelong resident of the Hickory Tree Community and a retired electrician for Hutton Electric. Mr. Nichols was a U.S. veteran, having served in World War II. While serving in World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, II Division 23rd Inf. Regiment, serving in France, Belgium, Germany and Czechoslovakia. He was dscharged with an EAME Theatr Ribbon Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and Combat Infantry Badge-World War II. He was a member of the Sunrise Baptist Church. Mr. Nichols was a member of the Zollicoffer Masonic Lodge 444. Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by two brothers, David E. Nichols and Sollie Boyd, one sister, Elizabeth N. Grigsby, two infant children, Julia Elizabeth and Stephen Greene Nichols. William S. Tankersley BRISTOL, Tenn. ? William S. "Dub" Tankersley, age 90, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2004, at his home. "Dub" was a lifelong native of Bristol and was one of six children of the late William and Mae Tankersley. He attended Tennessee High School, where he lettered in football, basketball and track. He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. After 30 years of service, "Dub retired as a supervisor from the U.S. Postal Service. A loving father, grandfather and friend, he was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a sister, wife, Myra Tankersley of Bristol Tennessee, and a daughter, Gale Giles. "Dub" is survived by a son, Dick Tankersley of Bristol Tennessee; sister-in-law, Jean Massengill of Burlington, Wash.; son-in-law, Eric Giles of Florence, Ala.; granddaughters, Carol Roberts of Seymour, Tenn., Stacey Williamson of Chattanooga, Tenn., Paige Tankersley of Bristol Tennessee; and Bradey Tankersley of Bristol Tennessee; grandsons, John Tankersley of Asheville, Tenn., Clay Giles of Bristol Tennessee, and Brian Tankersley of Bristol Tennessee; granddaughter- in-law, Teresa Giles of Bristol Tennessee; grandson-in-law, Ben Williamson of Chattanooga; great-grandaughters, Victoria Roberts of Seymour and Sarah Williamson of Chattanoog; nieces, Beverly Wetherington of Lagrange, Ga., and Hope Howell of Harrison, Tenn.; nephews, Billy Brownlow of Abingdon and Jimmy Lynn Tankersley of Detroit. Rouse Wills BRISTOL, Tenn. ? Edith S. Rouse Wills, age 86, of 204Willow St., passed away Sunday, July 25, 2004, at her residence. She was born May 5, 1918, to the late James W. "Jim" and Addie Campbell Rouse, and has lived all of her life in the Bristol area. She was a homemaker and was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lonnie Wills. Also surviving: daughters, Ella Winegar and husband Bryston and Darlene Morrissey and husband John; grandchildren, Matthew Winegar and Courtney Morrissey; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, in the Weaver Funeral Home, ith Rev. Grady Winegar and Rev. Elmer Lester officiating. The burial wil follow in Rooty Branch Cemetery.
