Blevins DAMASCUS – Maudie K. Blevins, age 80, of the Green Cove community, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2004. She was the widow of Rondy D. Blevins. Bouton went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 27, 2004, at Select Specialty Hospital, following a brief illness. Born Dec. 9, 1939, he was a native of Bristol Virginia. He was a devoted Christian, who depended on his Lord daily. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be dearly missed. He loved his family, church family and Southern gospel music, having sung with several groups and the church choir. He was a member of Fellowship Chapel for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Duard B. Bouton, and his mother, Reba M. Bouton, a special uncle, Hubert Bouton, a special aunt, Della "Bo" Bryant, and a cousin, Barbara Bouton. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Mary A. Bouton; two sons, Donnie Bouton and his wife Lori and Eddie Bouton and his wife Brenda, all of Bristol; two granddaughters, whom he adored, Abbie and Annie Bouton of Bristol; a brother, Bob Bouton and wife Barbara of Bucyrus, Kan.; a nephew, Timmy Bouton and his wife Brandy; a niece, Hilary Verville and her husband Michael; a great- nephew, Jake Bouton; three aunts, Eleanor Bouton, Betty Talley and June King and her husband Lawrence; an uncle, Earl Bouton and his wife Ruth; a number of loving cousins, who were all special to him, and a special dog, Tazzie. She was born May 1, 1921, a daughter of the late Samuel and Ella Whiteman, and was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, Tenn. She was a 1939 graduate of Blountville High School. Born Sept. 17, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Bishop DeBusk and the late John Gross DeBusk Sr., builder and owner of DeBusk Mill in Washington County, Va. She grew up as a member of Old Glade Presbyterian Church, attended Queens College and the College of William and Mary, and was a nurse in Glade Spring during the late 1930s and 1940s. More recently, she had been a member of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church in Abingdon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph George Gunter, and their two-year-old son, William Ralph Gunter, as well as her sister, Laura DeBusk Arington, and brother, John Gross DeBusk Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Gunter Haviland, and son-in-law, David Pairman Haviland, of Abingdon, and two grandchildren, Simon Windsor Haviland of Bend, Ore., and Hannah Louise Haviland of London. Surviving also are one sister, Agnes DeBusk Ingram of Mt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Jane Long Sutherland, two sisters, Ruby Sutherland and Faye Silcox, four brothers, Fred, Carter, Norris and Thurmond Sutherland, and an infant grandson. He was a veteran of the U.S Navy serving during World War II. He was a 32 degree Mason and a Shriner. He is survived by two daughters, Janet Paul and husband Timothy of Abingdon and Gwendolyn Jordan and husband John of Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Seva Aston, Janet (Michael) Teeple and Michael Huddleston; four great-grandchildren, Shannon, Jonathan and Carley Teeple and Samantha Huddleston; three sisters-in-law, Irene Sutherland, Helen Long Riddle and husband Roy and Jean Long Phillips and husband Daniel, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Elijah York Sutherland will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, with Rev. Mike Moore officiating. Committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2004, in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood.
