Franklin HICKORY, N.C. – Charles Alvin Franklin died July 29, 2004, in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Born Dec. 22, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo., he was the son of Edna Waycaster Franklin and the late Floyd Alvin Franklin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Ann Stout. He worked in the restaurant business, was general manager of Sagebrush Restaurant in North Carolina and served in the National Guard. Survivors include one son, Chase Franklin, Hickory, and his mother, Edna W. Franklin of Johnson City. Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Saturday in Christ United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Helton died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Sneedville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Chris Helton and Elizabeth Mae Burton Helton. He moved to Bristol during the early 1940s and was a carpenter by trade. He leaves behind many brothers and sisters, four cousins in Bristol, several nieces, nephews and cousins in Rogersville and Sneedville and a very special friend, Lou Harrington.
