He was born in Sullivan County, Tenn., and was the son of Elizabeth Flick Allison and the late Paul William Allison. He graduated Holston Valley High School in 1958. After a military career of 48 years, Mr. Allison retired in 1999 from the U.S. Army as a chief warrant officer 5. He was a member of Berean Baptist Church in Ocala. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carol Howington Allison; a daughter, Becky Hudson and husband Tim of Radcliff, Ky.; seven sisters, Janie Pridemore and husband Ralph and Cathy Doss and husband Preston, all of Bristol Tennessee, Gail McConnell and husband Roger of Blountville, Joyce Long and husband Paul of Wytheville, Dottie Luxmore and husband Larry of Cadiz, Ky., Susie Wiseman and husband Gordon of Cartersville, Ga., and Alice Richards and husband Ernie of Summerville, S.C.; seven brothers, Eddie Allison and wife Tootsie, Steve Allison and wife Brenda and Maurice Lou Allison, all of Bristol Tennessee, Jerry Allison and wife Theresa of Olathe, Kan., Kenny Allison and wife Charlotte of Eatonton, Ga., Mack Allison and wife Becky of Cincinnati and Monty Allison and wife Joanette of White Hall, Ark.; a granddaughter, Natasha Hudson; a grandson, Stephen Hudson and wife Shana; two great-grandchildren, Tayler and Ryan Hudson, and many nieces and nephews. Estel Stacy Blevins MEADOWVIEW – Estel "Bud" Stacy Blevins, age 80, of 27252 Homestead Drive, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2004, at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport. He was a native of Green Cove, Va., and the son of the late Dewey C. and Sarah Catherine Lewis Blevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jessie Blevins, and one sister, Esther Duvak. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Mr. Blevins received the Purple Heart for his service to our country. He was a member of the Green Cove Baptist Church, a deacon and a Sunday School teacher of the men’s adult class. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maria C. Seri Blevins; three daughters, Carla McKinney of Meadowview, Kathy McKinney and her husband Carl of Meadowview and Lois Leidig and husband William of Emory, Va.; three sisters, Edith Ashley and Louise Waters, both of Abingdon, and Irma Layman of Farmington, N.M.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Phillip Hoyt Bourne BLOUNTVILLE – Phillip Hoyt Bourne, age 45, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at the Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. Phillip was born on July 15, 1959, to the late Chuck and Laura Demeritt Bourne in Bristol Virginia. He lived in the greater Bristol area all of his life, where he worked for General Services for the State of Tennessee. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include wife, Lisa Doran Bourne of Blountville; daughter, Elizabeth Bourne; son, Brian Bourne, both of the home; sisters, Cheryl Harr of Blountville, Rhonda Bourne of Atlanta and Lori Rosenbalm of North Carolina; brothers, Kevin and Steve Bourne of Bristol Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Johnson. Born in Taylors Valley, Va., she resided in Elizabethton and had lived in Kingsport since 1976. She was active in the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Elizabethton and graduated from the first class of Sunday School workers in the Baptist Watauga Association. She was also the Sunday School superintendent. Preceding her in death were her husband, John J. Hampton, one brother and five sisters. He was of the Old Regular Baptist faith, a former employee of United Coal and an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Yates will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church, with Elders Delmarus Hall, Frank O’quinn, Andy Deel, Toy Looney, Scotty Boyd, Roger Coleman and Herbert May officiating. Burial will follow in the Yates Cemetery, Route 2, Haysi. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Dorothy E. Yates, age 80, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at the home of her daughter, Kathleen Boyd. Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
