Mr. James Scott "Smokey" Bellamy, age 78, went home to be with the Lord, Aug. 20, 2004, at his home. The Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 E. Main St., Abingdon, is serving the family of Mr. James Scott "Smokey" Bellamy. Ferrell W. Boyd Ferrell W. Boyd, 77, formerly of Bristol, died Aug. 22, 2004, in Jupiter, Fla., following a lengthy illness. Mr. Boyd spent his youth in Bristol, graduated from Tennessee High School in 1944 and Virginia Military Institute in 1948. He held a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from VMI. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, where he served as an anti-tank gunner from 1945-1947. Mr. Boyd relocated to Tampa, Fla., in 1978 and retired to Jupiter in 1995. Known to his friends in Bristol as Bub or Spec, he was active for many years in the Bristol Country Club as a member and tournament director. He was also a member of the Bristol Elks Club, the Hacklerwood Post 145 of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bristol as a child and later was a member of the Emmanual Episcopal Church of Bristol. He was one of the founding members of the Cedar Valley Club. Mr. Boyd was the son of E.F. and Mattie Davis Boyd, founders of Quality Ice Cream and Bristol Supply and Equipment Company. Mr. Boyd was a partner in Bristol Supply and Equipment and later owned Boyd Consulting and Old Hickory Bar-B-Q, the latter in partnership with his lifelong friend, Paul "Jake" Morrell. Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Koether Boyd, sister, Bettye Boyd Templeton, and brother, John W. Boyd. He is survived by a daughter, Cindy Boyd of Orlando, Fla.; three sons, F.W. "Woody" Boyd Jr. of Elizabethton, Tenn., Bryan K. Boyd of Bristol and Bruce R. Boyd of Jupiter; a granddaughter, Lindsey Boyd; eight grandsons, Daniel Boyd of Tampa, F.W. "Chip" Boyd III of Bristol, Sam Boyd of Elizabethton, Christopher Boyd and Alex Boyd of Bristol and Brandon, Blake and Brent Boyd of Jupiter; a brother-in-law, James D. Templeton of Columbia, S.C.; aunts, Eliza Ireson of Roanoke and Nancy Taylor of Chapel Hill, N.C., and special friends, Paul and Phyllis Morrell of Bristol Tennessee. I.L. Crabtree ABINGDON – I.L. "Ike" Crabtree died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at the DeBakey Heart Center At Methodist Hospital, Houston. Mr. Crabtree was born in Honaker, a son of the late Otis and Maude McGlothlin Crabtree. He was the founder of Crabtree Buick-Pontiac Inc. He was a past member of the Board of Directors of Virginia National Bank and a member of the Board of Visitors of Emory & Henry College. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Quarles and Blanche Wallace, and a brother, Russell Crabtree. Survivors include his wife, Doris Goodman Crabtree, and a son, Larry Crabtree. After his marriage to Doris, he was blessed with two special children, Mark Worley and wife, Kim, and Sherri Fluent and husband, Tom. From these families he was given four loving grandchildren, Lance, Connor and Brooke Worley and Sydney Fluent. Also surviving are two sisters, Marieda Campbell and husband, W.J., and Glenda Lindstrom and husband, Carl; two brothers, James Crabtree and wife, Joyce, and Mitchell Crabtree and wife, Deanna; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Linda H. Galliher CHILHOWIE – Mrs. Linda H. Galliher, age 58, passed away Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at the Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born in Smyth County, Va., and had lived in Bristol, Grayson County, Louisiana and Pound before moving to Chilhowie in 1993. Linda had been a substitute teacher at the Northwood High School and also had been the director of the Pound High School Color Guard. She had been employed as a sales representative for the Cross Market Company and enjoyed making, selling and going to craft shows. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Hiler Hunt. Survivors are her husband, Charles A. Galliher Sr.; her son, Charles A. "Chuck" Galliher Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Severn, Md.; her father, William "Bill" Hunt of Chilhowie; a grandson, Cory Galliher of Severn; two sisters, Juanita Duff and husband, Ralph, of Saltville and Mary Taylor and husband, Dickie, of Chilhowie; two brothers, Preston Hunt and wife, Doris, and Billy Hunt and wife, Brenda, all of Chilhowie. Arthur Perry ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. – Mr. Arthur Perry, age 72, of 421 West "G" St., died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Nursing Home, Mountain Home, Tenn., following a brief illness. Mr. Perry was a native of Bluff City and was the son of the late Emmett A. and Bessie Nichols Perry. He was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church and was a former employee of the Exxon Service Station on the Volunteer Parkway in Bristol. He was retired due to disability. He was veteran of the U.S. Army and was preceded in death by a brother, Emmett R. Perry. Survivors include two sisters and one brother-in-law, Elizabeth Campbell of Bristol Virginia and Margaret and Doug Lipps of Gray, Tenn.; a special caregiver, Iva Malone of Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
