Addington ABINGDON – Orville W. Addington, 95, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004. He was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church of the Highlands and was an avid golfer and bridge player. Mr. Addington was a Navy veteran and a retired professor of math from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Constance Bowman Addington. Survivors include his sister-in-law, June Bowman Owens of Abingdon; one brother, Omer C. Addington of Gate City; special friend and caregiver, Nancy V. Abel of Abingdon; special nephew, Luther (Ed) Chapman, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins. Roby Elden Barton BEE, Va. – Roby Elden Barton, age 71, of Dickenson County, Va., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at the Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Carson Barton and Clercy Barton Tiller. He was a retired miner and a member of UMWA Local 2274, Clintwood and was a member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Dewey Tiller, two brothers, Beecher Arland Barton and Carson Barton Jr., and one son, David Barton. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Roxy Inez Barton; four sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. James Ray Millhorn BLUFF CITY – James Ray Millhorn, age 63, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at the Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. James was born Oct. 12, 1940, in Bristol Virginia, to the late Jack and Georgia Millhorn. He later moved to Vancouver, Wash., where he lived for 30 years. He then returned to the Bristol area, where he had lived the past seven years of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. Mr. Millhorn was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Gross Millhorn. Born Nov. 11, 1917, in Mountain City, Tenn., a son of the late Elmer Lee Roy Pennington and the late Okey Mabe Pennington, he was a retired minister of the Pentecostal faith and coal miner. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a lifetime member and former chaplain of the Lebanon VFW Post 9864. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Pennington and Robert (Buddy) Pennington,; and two sisters, Effie Blackwell and Hazel Herald.
